Locus 3.5.3 crashes when zooming on saved maps
Solved
Hi there,
I run Locus on an old phone, a Motorola Defy Mini, which I use as a gps for cycling. I run offline maps , GB OS maps saved as .db files, run from a micro SD card.
My problem is that Locus keeps quitting, which is mightly annoying, especially when riding the South Downs way in the rain!! The message I get is 'Sorry The Application Locus Pro (process menion,android.locus.pro) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.'
I would imagine that this old phone is at the limits of it's capabilities running Locus. Has anyone any suggestions as to ways I can prevent it crashing? Can I in some way reduce the features being used by Locus to reduce the memory it is using?
Many thanks,
Joe
Good day Joe,
support for quite old version is usually very complicated. In this case - Motorola Defy is well known device that suffer from one major problem - very limited amount of operational memory for single application = big problem for Locus. Usually only solution is reduce usage of memory as much as possible.
This means mainly:
- using online or offline (Sqlite, downloaded) maps, not a vector maps
- reduce number of points and mainly track on map as much as possible
- no overlays, no shading, no WMS maps
If you will still see crashes, then I really suggest to check if you do not have any tracks visible on second half of Earth etc. Otherwise I'm worried that I can't help.
