Locus action download stuck

Hi,

I am trying to download a third party offline map through Locus action url.

İt starts fine than gets stuck at some percentage and hangs there forever. Even if I abort the download and close Locus app the download notification still stays saying "Downloading". After I start the application again all downloads are getting stuck like that including Locus store ones. Complete phone restart is needed to get things working again. Than if I start third party download it all happens again. Locus store works fine directly after restart.

I tried two different providers, both failed.

Internet connection is fine, direct map download works fine.

Hi,

please check following:

try to download the same map to the PC (only to be sure that there is no problem with the map file on the server)
check free space on your device (I suggest to have double space than the size of the downloaded map)
please try to download maps into the internal memory. You can change the default dir for vector maps in Menu > settings > Miscellaneous > Def Directories > "mapsVector". Let me know if it helped.

Hi Petr,

Yes, this way it works. I could even download the files from the web site directly to the SD card of my phone (there is more than double needed free space on it) and than put them in the Locus vector map folder manually.

There is also another way I could make it work with Locus actions. When download got stuck, without aborting it from Locus notifications dialog, İ closed Locus from Currently running apps dialog in Android. Then I opened Locus again and the action download/unpacking would resume. I had to repeat this several times untill finally (and very slowly compared to direct web download) the map and themes did install.

Nečetl jsem topic, nicméně pokud stahuje jen mapu, tak by neměl být problém a k nějakému zaseknutí progresu by dojít nemělo. Pokud stahuje téma, může rozbalení tématu na SD kartu trvat snad i deset minut.

Hi Menion,

The action installed both map and themes.

İt was slow on unpacking themes, but it stuck on downloading maps. The longest I waited was 2 hours.

I had to close Locus and start again. Then the download would resume.

Manual downloading to SD card worked fine and fast.

Ah sorry, it was private note to Petr.

Unfortunately without a clear error in log, I have no idea how to help here. Only may suggest to check if "SD card" for "mapsVector" is correctly set in Locus settings (maybe set it once more, for sure). Otherwise sorry, you will have to use internal memory for now.

Dear Lux,

I talked about your issue with the main developer. The downloading of the map file (single file) should work. Complicated can be downloading of themes that consist from several small files and this is complication for unpacking on the sdcard (due to security restriction in Android system). However I can offer only two workarounds: -download to the internal memory or direct manual downloading.

So yes, that is right.

The process gets stuck on unpacking.

Doesn't matter if it is a map file or a theme.

I've updated OAM this time and it stuck at 97% unpacking.

Restarting Locus without cancelling the task helped as before.

Hi,

The same happened to me today with the Italy (North) LoMap. It got stuck during several attempts to download (just before the extraction of the file at 50%). Forcing Locus to close was a good workaround.

Android: 8.1.0 (LineageOs 15.1-20180222-UNOFICIAL-serranoltexx)

Download / default folders of Locus on SD-Card (but the card is formatted for internal storage)
