Locus Map does not start anymore,

Ingo Becker shared this problem 8 years ago
Solved

I tried to download an offline map. Seems like this process got stuck anyhow. Now the app always stops while it initializes my own maps (system, 26%). It does not react anymore.

I'm using Locus Map pro on a galaxy xcover, Android 5.1.1 .

Good day Ingo,

in case, this problem started right after unsuccessful download of certain map, did you tried to remove this map from download folder? In case it was some online map, it will be stored in Locus/maps/my_map.sqlitedb directory, otherwise in case of vector maps, it should be in Locus/mapsVector directory.

I'm sorry for a complications. This definitely should not happen no matter of condition of downloaded map. If you discover that really this partially downloaded map cause a troubles, please share this file with me so I may simulate and fix this problem.

Thank You.

Dear Menion,

I deleted the files in the vector maps directory. The problem still persists. So the downloaded file does not cause the problem...

I'd rather deinstall Locus maps and reinstall it again, as long as my maps are not deleted (I can backup them of course) and as long as I can reinstall Locus map pro free of charge... Is this possible?

Thanks

Ingo

Good day,

it's free of charge of course. Once purchased application is attached to gmail account forever.

Anyway

1. Check on Google Play if you really have latest version of Locus Map application

2. If you downloaded bigger map, it may take some time till it's initialized for the first time ... so try to give Locus at least 10 minutes, just for sure

3. If still no success, try firstly just rename directory called "Locus/cache", so Locus will be forced to initialize maps from scratch. It may helps.

I'm not a big fan of "completely delete and try from start" solution as it do not solve real problem. Best is of course, if I'm able to simulate problem on own device.

Anyway do a backup of Locus directory just for sure. Otherwise there are no risks with re-installation.
