Locus Map Pro stopped track logging in the background with Android Q on Google Pixel 3 XL

Solved

Hi there, I'm using Locus Map Pro on a Google Pixel 3 XL. Track logging in the background worked flawlessly until I upgraded to Android Q where it stopped working (no track log points are recorded while the app is in the background and/or the device is in standby mode). I would like to point out that the Locus Map app is in the "Battery optimization" / "Not optimized" exception list, as is the app "GPS Logger" which continues to log tracks perfectly well in the background with Android Q. I've done several tests with GPS Logger and Locus Map Pro simultaneously logging in the background while the device is in standby. Both apps are in the Android Q batter not optimized exception list. GPS Logger logs well, Locus Map Pro does not log in the background. Using the currently most recent version 3.40.

Hi Gerd,

we are very sorry for this inconvenience. Here are the instructions how to fix it:

- please update to the most recent version 3.40.2

- in your phone system settings, go to location permissions and set permission to get location all the time for Locus Map, not just "when the app is used"

best regards

Michal, Locus team

Hi Michal,

thank you very much for this information. Works perfectly again now. Can't believe I didn't find this setting myself, thought I looked everywhere but obviously didn't.

Ciao

Gerd
