Locus Maps don't display linked image from Panoramio in point description

Not a Problem

Locus Maps don't display linked images (to Panoramio) in point description of favorite point. Points were created using Google Earth: Clicked on image icon and saved it in a kmz file. Kmz file was then imported to Locus Maps. I have also Lenovo iPad with KitKat 4.4.2 and it works. After installing Locus maps on Samsung S5 Neo, running Andoid 5.1.1, images are not shown in the Description field. Do I need to set some permissions to follow the link. Description of points contains the kmz xml link to photo when I go to Edit, but when point is displayed, the space in Description is blank.

Good day ricardo,

I can hardly imagine what exactly you see and where may be a problem. May you please share one problematic file here in this topic (you will probably have to rename file or just change extension to be able to attach file here)?

Thanks

Good day too.

I am attaching screen shots of the points imported as .kmz file. On my Lenovo Kitkat 4.4.2 under point descriptor, the linked image is displayed as nice photo. On my new Samsung Android 5.1.1 the place for the image is blank. When I go and select "Edit", it will show the .kmz code for the Panoramio link. Also the original .kmz file that was imported is here attached.

Thank you for your time to resolve this issue.

Hello ricardo,

it is possible to share also your kmz file? On third screenshot is visible content of point, but is seems to be some complex web page that contains some scripts and that needs to download image from internet over some function. I'm not sure if I may help here anyway to try it, I'll really need something to test.

I did sent the .kmz file with the screen shots. Here it is again. The script is the exactly the same as in the .kmz file. The way to create the .kmz file with the link to Panoramio on Google Earth is to open Google Earth, enable images in the left panel, right click on an image icon and choose "Save to my places". This creates new file under "Temporary Places" on the left panel called Places. Then right click on this new file and choose "Save Place As..." and select destination folder. This file will have the same .kmz script that you can see on my screen shots. This is therefore the same link (pointer) to the image in Panoramio data base and Google Earth will display the image. I created many points like this in one .kmz file and then imported this file into Locus points. It worked well under Android Katkit 4.4.3, but does not under the new 5.1.1. May be it is necessary that Locus Maps declare SD card storage place, which is a new thing under Lollipop.

see also this:

maybe the Locus maps did not declare permission?

"Using this new method, a developer can now declare a permission

on installation (that's part of that list of items we usually gloss

over) to do "things" on device storage — including removable (read: SD

cards) storage. One of the things they can do is allow you to choose

what folder(s) on the SD card you want the application to be able to

change. This could be one folder — like "Music" — or the top level

folder. Anything inside this directory can be read, written, and possibly deleted."

Hello ricardo,

thanks for a file. Unfortunately I'm worried, I won't be able to help here. Problem is in chromium web browser that is inside Android 5. To be true, problem is probably in web page that offer for download image itself.

This is error that is reported by browser:

  1. I/chromium: [INFO:CONSOLE(0)] "Refused to execute script from 'http://mw1.google.com/mw-earth-vectordb/panoramio_clusters/000144/682709.json' because its MIME type ('application/json') is not executable, and strict MIME type checking is enabled."

I made a simple test. I've created html page from content of your point "Copiapoa columna-alba (mountain form) Monte Perales, Chile" (attached here). When you open this page in Chrome web browser on PC, result will be same (PC Chrome use same core as browser that Locus use in point screen).

So make this file working on PC with Chrome and it will probably work also in Locus.
