Locus pro and Samsung Galaxy S8 (+) phones

Hi,

Locus pro is almost the most important app on my Galaxy S7 phone. Regarding to the very new Samsung S8 (and S8+), I have two questions:

1. These new phnes come with an outstanding 1440*2960 screen resolution. Is this resolution fully compatible with Locus Pro, in a full screen display mode ?

2. These phones are the first ones (AFAIK) that support Galileo european satellite very new system. Thanks to this feature, can one hope a much more precise localization, especially when inside cities ?

Best regards

Good day sl91,

it is complicated to perfectly answer without previous trying, but from my point of view:

1. there should be no problem with higher resolutions except again small and smaller texts/symbols/... on raster maps.

2. Galileo is already support by Locus Map in skyplot screen, so you will see which sats comes from various satellite owners. And discussion about precision is better to follow on some more focused web pages, like:

... hmm, I've expected to find some scientific analysis ... maybe it's too soon :). Anyway from I've read before, there should really be a precision up to 1 m for public usage.

Maybe someone already has this device? Then it's experience should be welcome.

Hi Menion,

Many thanks for the answer. I was about to buy the new Galaxy S8+ but I will finally wait a little bit. It seems that there is a potentially general issue on these phones (once again, Samsung did it !). I mean the red backgroud color.

Best regards

Hello,

you are welcome. From what I've read, there is not a big difference between S7 and S8. I personally really hope all will work fine and I won't be forced to purchase this device for testing :).

Good luck and have a nice day,

Menion

You are right. The two main reasons for me to switch to S8+ are the bigger screen and (this is what I hope) a much more precise GPS.

Have a nice day,
