Solved

1) I have created KMZ maps from pics with rezolution 4000x4000 or 3000x3000.

2) The KMZ it is loaded and displayed correct in Locus

3) I start zoomin - in from 3000 m to 1000 m - it looks ok . When I zoom in more - to 500 m - than it stops - no response - black screen - after 2 s it throws me out to Android - with "stopped unexpectedly "

it depend on map you`re trying to use. It`s one big picture or more smaller as one map?

Picture I have considered as map when I created the KMZ was :

first 4.5 MB - it crashed

2nd - I have resized the same picture to 2.072 MB - it crashed

Let me know what is the maximum size of picture that can be used ?

ah ok, this is a problem. Max size depend on phone you use. Anyway there aren`t any specific limits, because it depend on many facts (map you currently use, overlays, displayed points, ...). Anyway displaying one big picture as an overlay is not a good approach. Best method is separate whole image into smaller tiles. This will Locus handle correctly no matter of your zoom level.

I`m not experienced with such task but here are list of some tools that may help http://garminoregon.wikispaces.com/Cu...?

Essential is just to cut one big image into more smaller and all pack into one KMZ file as you have currently

One last question ? I Have a Samsung Galaxy S 1 - any idea of the max size of pics I should use ?

if you`ll separate map into smaller tiles, for example 256x256, then you should use really huge maps. I tested it on 90MB big map and worked fine.

if you want to have one big image only, then I think you can use just around 10MB of memory (max) so it`s around 3.5 mil of pixels so around 1800x1800 px big image, but don`t take it as exact value, as I wrote it depend on many facts
