LoMaps vs Andromaps detail?

Hi,

I'm a Locus Pro user and extremely happy with the app.

I was disappointed however to find that the paid LoMaps contain less details than the free OSM vector maps from www.openandromaps.org/en/

I've attached two pairs of screenshots showing the difference. As you can see in the Nepal example, entire towns are missing from LoMaps but visible in Andromaps.

LoMaps are much smoother and responsive however, maybe due to the size difference (Nepal - LoMap 227mb vs Andromap 416mb). Are LoMaps less detailed to keep the file size smaller?

Dear Brad,

I guess that you use very old version of LoMap (probably more the one year old) that does not contains mentioned elements. Please download the latest version from Locus Store.

Thanks for the reply. All is good now! I tried to update the map before writing this post however the option was not available. I deleted it, reinstalled and now it's working fine,

Anyway Lomaps have update cycle slow compared to openandromaps.

For example, for Europe openandromaps had 2 updates only in the month of december,but Lomaps for the same regions have latest map in the month of august(08).

When it is next update planned for lomaps?

Hi,new version of LoMaps was released today. I can understand that current release cycle is not ideal for you. However could I ask you how do you use LoMaps/OAM and why is important for you to have frequent updates?

Hello Petr.. I mainly use OAM because it is always up to date.. In every new version there are new POIs(points),new paths(minor roads) and other improvements.If I'm on a hike or a MTB tour in the mountains or wilderness,I need as much up to date info to have on the spot. A missing trail in the map could mean a lot of lost time..and a new waypoint on a map-life saviour.

As regarding Lomaps I want more frequent updates because I use the off-line POI database search , which is updating each month with OSM.
