LoPoints: "Display on map" what for?
Answered
If using LoPoints we can display POIs on the map by clicking onto the map-icon and remove them by clicking on the eye-icon. But what's the job of the option "Display on map" within the 3-dot menu at the top? I couldn't notice any effect whether it's active or not.
And also the manual couldn't answer my question. In the English version it's telling something about "dynamic" and "passive" points. What are "dynamic" POIs?
Hi Sonny,
- the LoPoints feature is waiting for a major overhaul
- as it is now it helps to browse or search various categories of map points of interest. When you select such a category and tap the "eye" in the topbar, the LoPoints of this category are highlighted on the map.
- the option hidden under the three-dot menu controls the display of ALL LoPoints. See the difference between ON and OFF status:

Hi Michael, the "Display on map"-option seems not to work on my phone. I just can display POIs by clicking the "map"-icon and I just can hide POIs by clicking the "eye"-icon.
In other words, if just disabling "Display on map", the POIs are still displayed on the map here. And on the other hand if this option is on, NO Pois are displayed on the map by default. I have to click the "map"-icon in LoPoints screen first do display them.
Could you please decribe what steps you did for your animated screenshot? Is this function also working if GPS is off?

Hi Sonny,
I made a longer gif for you:
This feature is independent on GPS status.

Addition: Ah! Now it's working on my phone too, maybe it didn't work first because I had just fresh installed LoMaps and its database.
But maybe a good idea would be to improve the naming of this option into "Automatic display on map". Then this option is clearer, especially the difference to the function of the "map"-icon to manually display them on the map.
As a service for other Locus users, what I found out additionaly to the info within the manual:
1) Automatic (=dynamic points). Loaded and displayed automatically. Switched on by option "Display on map"
2) Manually (=passive points). Displayed just after user input. Displayed by clicking the "map" icon

Hi Sonny,
thanks for your feedback but as I've written - the LoPoints feature is waiting for a major overhaul. So many things will be improved.
best regards
Michal
