Losing Geocache pictures all the time
Solved
Before I go caching I download a region of geocaches.
Then I check if the caches that I want to do have pictures.
1) These are not automatically downloaded? I`ll need to open each cache separately for the pictures to appear. (this is/was maybe a problem for Geocaching4Locus, because I still work with the previous version).
2) In the field, I have noticed on several occasions that the pictures were gone?!? I`m sure that I had the pictures while I was online? Any ideas?
Version 2.10.2
Samsung Galaxy S2 4.1.2
In the settings > Geocaching > Auto-load pictures is checked
Hi,
there is probably a misunderstanding. What you see in "Listing" tab (in Geocache detail), is simple web page. This page is loaded from pocket query or imported over any add-on, but! it contain only a text.
When Locus display this page (in listing), it download additional images from internet (if you have enabled "Auto-load pictures!)
Also these images are handled by Android itself, so they`re only temporarily cache and may not be available later
You have three solutions
1) keep current system. It`s simple, but you may never be sure, images will be available offline
2) use SpoilerSync or any similar program that allow to fetch all images on PC and you may then copy loaded data to Locus/data/geocaching
3) you may use "Offlinizer" in Locus (check it under Geocaching tools) that do similar stuff as offlinizer. It`s just little bit slower in case, you want use Geocaching Live API for download. If you want only images available in listing, don`t use Live API and download will be quite fast
better now?

Thank you! I understand it now ;-)

Menion,
I have a category with 4300 geocaches. As I started the Offlinizer to download all the images it crashes Locus pro after some 1000 processed caches.
I have this problem consistently.
Workaround seems to be to download them in chunks.

hmm do you really need them all? :)
Anyway if Locus crash in any way, I can do nothing with "Locus crash". best way is to create log. Are you able to create one with CatLog program?

I don`t know Catlog, I`ll look for it this evening.
But the last time it crashed, I had the change to fill in a rapport. So I did ;-).
Do you see this bug rapport android/google sends you? If not, I`ll recreate the crash with Catlog.

Menion,
I think I found the offending cache. Try to Offlinize GC1RA01.
There`s a link to a file which is 45,6 MB in size.

I`ve been thinking about his images. If they are so big, I don`t think I want them on my machine. They shouldn`t crash Locus, of course, but could you skip images above some configurable maximum size?
About that almost naked woman, it could be worse,...

I was also thinking about this ... so added parameter to configuration file
http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php/manu...
geocaching_offlinizer_max_image_size
default value set to 5MB. When there will be any images bigger then this, you`ll see this in "Offlinizer" screen
