Map download stalled

Solved

Map download stalled for past 3 days, error code 1. An orange box comes up stating there is a problem but the box disappears before I can read the message. Any suggestions on how to get my download to continue? I'm downloading to a Samsung Galaxy S5 and have the latest version of Locus Pro. Thanks.

Good day blulynx,

what map and what area are you trying to download?

I'm trying to download the USA Topo Maps (scanned) for Oregon. I've completed all zoom levels to level 15 and have downloaded about 1/8th of level 15. I am downloading to my sd card and have plenty of memory left. Thanks.

Good day,

I firstly thought that this error message in case of USGS maps, is caused by really really slow server on USGS side. Anyway error 1 means some problem with saving of downloaded map tile, not directly problem on remote server.

You wrote about "orange box", There is more information inside then just "error 1"? Are you able to create a screenshot of this box?

I'm not sure how to help here. It is possible that downloaded file is somehow corrupted, so I personally may suggest to start downloading once more. Understand that if you already have downloaded large area, it may be annoying.

Here's a screen shot of the message. I have 16.5gb left on my sd card, so lots of space. Am hoping there is another option than to start over as it takes soooo long. Is it possible to download onto my desktop computer and move the large map file onto my sd card? I've read through the forum but ended up more confused than I started. Thanks

Hello,

thanks you for your screenshot. I hoped, there will be some more information, but it is only as you wrote before.

Another step, may you please try to create a log by this method: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:faq:how_to_create_debug_log right after issue happen ? In log should be error message about this problem.

And if even a log do not help, I may prepare a special version that say use more.

Sorry for a complications.

Thanks for the instructions. I tried to send the debug report via "messaging" but it doesn't seem to be sending, so emailed it using dropbox. Let me know if it doesn't come through.

Thanks.

May you please write me on which email you have send this error message?

I uploaded the report to dropbox and had that app send the link to "locus.map@asamm.com. I just sent it to myself to see if there is a problem sending - my phone doesn't handle data well.

I got the message and link from dropbox. Just forwarded the email to you. Hopefully it will come through.

Hmm thnaks, but I see in received email only link to image file, but not to file with log itself (*.txt or *.log file).

I've sent another email with the text file. Hopefully it will come through. Am not sure what the problem is in getting this information to you. I have never worked with dropbox before. :)

Good day blulynx,

thanks for your report, it was finally delivered!

In log is visible error message:

  1. android.database.sqlite.SQLiteDiskIOException: disk I/O error (code 778)

I'm trying to search for some explanation and I've found a topic, where few users reports same issue. All has something common, as one use wrote: "Probably a Samsung bug. Every one of the crash reports are from Samsung devices -- no other brand has ever produced a report". Seems to be some issue in Samsungs modifications. What Android version you have? Guys wrote something about problems on Android 4.2.1 and 4.2.2 only.

EDIT: if this is the problem, maybe I've found one workaround. So in next version, we will see!

I have Android 4.4.4. A workaround sounds good.
