"Map Items" explained...
Answered
Hello,
can someone explain what are "Map Items" for and what do/can they contain?
KML/KMZ is maybe clear to me, but what could a Map Item include, as well?
Cheers

Good day Andreas,
please check our manual here, it should help. Simply say, "Map items" is just method, how Locus Map use KML and other files in little bit different way then direct import into internal database.
Feel free to ask if something won't be clear,

I read that manual, already (before asking my question, of course ;-) ). But somehow nothing comes to my mind on how and where to use it. Ok, for KML/KMZ, but is there more behind it?
Cheers

Hello,
oki. If you don't mind wait a day/two (maybe three) ... I've send this topic to Michal ( currently little bit ill ), who is responsible for our manual, so he should update our manual page ( if necessary ) to make it more clear/obvious.
Thanks for understanding.

And please describe differences between Map Items top menu “Hide all” and “Hide temp map items”, these names are bit confusing

Hi guys,
KMZ/KML can contain more than just points or tracks. It can contain whole maps, e.g. as a result of using the map calibration - as such, they can't be imported to Locus point/track database and for this "map items" are here. Thanks to map items you can also visualize .JSON files from which you can't import their data as well (e.g. when you download a track from GPSies.com).
"Hide all" vers "Hide temp map items" - the first considers only map item files added via "map items", the second also items created by other aspects of the app, e.g. objects drawn by geocaching tools - lines, circles.
We'll discuss better naming of these categories or placing them more properly. I'll also add more explanation to the Manual, thanks for reporting.
