Map Rotation

David Tomer shared this problem 8 years ago
Not a Problem

Hi,

I am a long time user of Locus and am VERY happy with the app. Excellent job!

Following are a few issues:

1. Map rotation stopped working properly: either rotates OPPOSITE to travel direction or, in some cases - in the general direction, but not the exact one (about 45 deg or so).

HW: LG G3

SW: Locus Pro 3.8.2

2. I suggest increasing the size of the Rotate, Zoom Out (-), Zoom In (+), etc. buttons - during biking those are hard to see. It may be due to the high resolution of LG G3 screen, but would be nice to be take care of.

3. Please add automatic route creation along bike/hike/car roads (similar to those in GPSies).

Best,

David

Good day David,

for unknown reason, Android devices has sometimes issue with compass itself. What may helps is "calibration". To do this, just take your device into hands and try to wave with it in the air around all three axis. That is all and this should help.

2. size of buttons - well resolutions are bigger and bigger so I'm sure, we will have to optimize UI a little bit, thanks!

3. this is quite different task, which is already few times here on help desk. Suggest to check feature called "add new route & measure" : http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:tracks:planning , which should at least partially do what you are looking for.

Hope this helps.

David although I agree with your point #2, also maybe also investigate the two other ways of zooming - (in Google mode) single finger double tap - zoom in, double finger double tap - zoom out; and double tap & drag. It may help - details in online manual.

And ... the map rotation issues on my wife's Moto G2014 were related to the fancy flipcase that not only did shut down the screen with its MAGNET but also detroyed the proper working of the compass.

Yes. And bicyclists sometimes have a compass problem because of the steel steering bar. Try it out with compass in Locus.

Note the direction of the north arrow and then move your phone real close to something like a steel heating radiator.

So for her no more flipcase on hikes.

On a bike it is known problem. I never use compass when device is mounted on bike anyway I never knew about such stupid flipcase.

Classic Henk. Good feedback.

@Michal - possibly a useful tip for the online manual, if not already mentioned- bikes, magnets, flipcases, grrr.

Great action guys and right where it should be noted: under Sensors/Hardware Compass. Because this off course has the same effect on the "heading line", not only on Map Rotation.
