I think old route planner directly on map was more useful. Because it was very simple for quickly measurement between many dots.

what do you mean by "quickly measurement between many dots"? Doesn't any of following methods of measuring suit you?: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:functions:measure

I think the need of map switching is not so frequent, so escaping the planner, switching the map and resuming the planning is not a big deal.

But it could be convenient for users using it a lot.

If map selector, then also theme selector.

But with under Theme for Elevate (openandromaps)

Elevate / hiking

Elevate / mountain bike

Elevate / city

Elevate / cycling

as it is also desired here: https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/save-maps-theme-specification-in-presets

... and app complexity grows :)

I'd say that what freischneider is saying is a little bit different. Anyway, I can't see theme selecting (on the fly, while planning a route) being more used than map selecting (mainly satellite/tourist maps).

But the best, as always, would be to have option for both in settings. Do you want map/theme selector cluttering your route planning screen? OK, it would be your choice.

Still it is essential, otherwise route planning on PC with Brouter-web or Openrouteservice will stay easier and will be prefered.

For me, Theme switching is even more important than map switching...

Hi guys,

I've forget to mention ... this feature is already available in the Locus Map 4 version. The identical side menu as on the main map screen is visible, so it is possible to modify the map, theme, and other parameters of the map content.

I think we discussed it some time, somewhere... It would be useful if Route Planner keeps/remembers its own visual state (map/theme/overlays/osm notes etc) - because route planning likely requires different display than main view.

Understand. And can't say I fully agree with need for this. I usually wants to use certain map/theme in all places and need to change it on both places seems to waste of time to me. I may do a poll if you really think it may be useful for majority.

Yes please. Examples: I think on planning, (themes with) more details are required in order to plan carefully. Also, OSM notes are especially useful there, because they have information on problems like non-accessible paths.

Hello Tapio, in the end I made and internal voting in our team to make it faster and a little expected result was : 8x no, 0x yes. Sorry, may be useful in rare case, but complicated to create (both screens share too much from the background map system > by intent) and also confusing if user does not know about it. Thanks for understanding.
