Mapping utility lines - Radiodetection integration

Travis Beran shared this question 6 years ago
Answered

We currently use Locus Pro to re-locate our utility lines but we use another application to map them wit the Radiodetection RD8100 utility locator. We would love Locus Pro to allow the RD8100 to integrate so we use Locaus Pro to also map. This could be a huge opportunity for Locus Pro. Can someone please contact me so we can discuss?

Good day Mr. Beran,

what you try to describe is quite profesional use case of application, that is mainly focused on hike & bike activities.

From what I see on web page of RD8100 device, it allows to store data and communicate over Bluetooth with different application on mobile device. So which feature can you imagine here? Connecting Locus Map to this device and display of recorded points directly on the map?

Yes. We would want Locus Pro to map just like it would during a hike. However the line would have additional info or attributes tagged to the line that are coming from the receiver such as the depth of the line.

There is another app on the market called PointMan that does what I am asking, but we love the versatility and walk-back feature in Locus Pro.

Good day,

understand, thank you for detailed description. Unfortunately I have to confirm that such functionality is out of scope of Locus Map application. It more fits currently developed Locus GIS , anyway in this case in app miss so many important features that I can't imagine this may be part of current road map. Sorry to say it.
