Mark icon on map for user defined value
Hi,
I'm still searching for a solution for a user defined marker. In GSAK I mark planned Geocaches for my tour with a flag. When I now generate a GPX file for locus this flag is "translated" into a defined sign which is placed in front of the Geocache name e.g.:
original Name: Great Geocache
new Name: ** Great Geocache
With help of the filter in Locus I'm able to find these caches quickly in the list.
If there would be now an option to get also a marker on the map this would be the last feature missing I had earlier realized with Garmin.
I think it could be not so easy to realize regarding which Geocache should be marked. But I have an idea regarding the new feature coming with the next locus version: saved filters.
How would it be if a saved filter matches for an icon of the map. This icon get's a transparent colored background?
Could this be possible or something similar?
Thanks Wolfgang
I understand this idea, but it looks to me that it is really very tightly bound to geocaching system.
What I have in mind is an idea of tags, already reported here: http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/tag-management-in-tracks-and-points .
I can imagine marking some caches with own defined tag like "Interesting". And somewhere define that all points with tag "Interesting" will be drawn with red dot circle. If such tags will be supported also over the import of GPX files, it should be quite easy to improve export from GSAK to include necessary tags into caches.
What do you think? I can imagine this in app really well because it sounds like a universal solution for many many use-cases. Quite a lot of work, but doable I believe.

This may work for you. In Locus export the caches as a KML file. Then import the into a folder called "zTo Do". The z ensures they are rendered last on the map. Change the icon for this folder to, for instance, a red dot, When you switch to the map view these caches will be displayed with the normal caching symbol and a red dot overlayed. Hope this helps.

My experience:
(GSAK, MoZiGo and the like I do not use)
Once upon a time ... my friend sent me gpx for a joint trip.
This file makes me totally confused in Locus!
What is an "app" that decides to change an attribute like CACHE NAME? They do not take any further use!
The cache name and GC code must not change any serious application.
Any model based on a name change or GC would be a very bad solution.
