MBTiles not available ...

hans klamer shared this problem 7 years ago
Not a Problem

I switched to a new phone (galaxy S5, older was Galaxy S4). Two large MBTiles files are onde external SD card (folder: SD-card/Locus/MBTiles; offline maps are in SD-card/Locus/mapsVector). They used to open fine in Locus, now in my new phone, thay are actually invisible. Even after copying the MBTiles in the mapsVector folder, they remain invisible.

The files themselves are OK, because I can open them on my Google Nexus table.

Is there a setting that I have wrong?

Thanks!

Hi Hans,

MBTiles format is not a vector one - it's raster, therefore Locus can't read it. Move your mbtiles to another folder and add them to Locus via "Add > External maps" in your map manager (http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:maps_external)

best regards

Hello Michal, thanks for your support. My porblem is, I'm sorry to say, not solved yet. I have moved the MBTiles-folder to the root of the external SD card (SD-card > MBTiles_NZ). This folder now contains two files with extension .mbtiles

In Locus, however, nothing is visible. I have attached two screendumps from my telephoen: one view from the Android file manager; one from Locus Map Manager.

Puzzles ....

Thansk again,

Hans

Hans, what kind of Android OS do you have? The name "SDcard" doesn't necessarily mean it's the external card - Android OS 6+ calls also inner memory an "sdcard". External cards usually have a code name. In your Locus map manager, tap three dots in the topbar and check all your memory drives.

Hi Michal.Done it! I have android 6.01 - I started as you mentioned in the Map Manager, and went back all the way down to the root, then building up again to my external SD card. The name of this card is the same as when I tried to access it in a direct way earlier, but apparently (?) the interaction between Androi 6.01 and Locus needs it this way to get it working. Anyway, I'm glad with your help and glad that I can now use the MBTiles!

Many thanks,

Hans
