Not a Problem

this is a problem for me!

I miss two active profiles in route planner:

ship (with an icon ship/boat)

rail (with an icon locomotive i.e.)

Hi Hans,

Locus Map is a mobile navigation app for outdoor activities - hiking, biking, geocaching etc. Its route planner, therefore, works with routing data containing only roads and paths dedicated to these activities. For planning travels by train or by ship, use manual mode.

Hi Michal,

NO SORRY, I do not use the manual mode for planning travels by ship....Why should i do that?

If i want to go with a boat/kanu along a river (on the river Weser or Donau with a kanu...) using brouter for planning (brouter-profil: river.brf !!!!) there is a NEED for an active profile: ship/boat/kanu.... This makes absolutly sense. What i need is an active profile with an icon: ship oder boat or kanu ....JUST THIS ICON. Not more.

Same for train: brouter/profiles2/rail.brf !!!!

No problem to do this for you.

Hi Hans,

we are talking about Locus Map here, not about BRouter. Despite Locus contains some of BRouter profiles - but they are adjusted for use in Locus and its infrastructure. And be sure, adding canoeing or train profiles is not about adding just icons. If you want to create routes with these profiles, do so at BRouter website and import them to Locus as GPX.

Hi Michal,

i do that river-routing and rail-routing inside of Locus for a long time. as you know, brouter is implemented in locus and so brouter is part of locus :-) and therefore brouter-profiles, including river.brf, are availible to be used for automaticly routing river.brf (also rail.brf) inside Locus. therfore you have to copy the river and rail.brf into the locus-folder. that is not a new feature. but to do so, i've to use an active profile with an bike as icon (or a walking person) instead of a SHIP/KANU/...This is not necessary for a good working routing-function - its just for the better look. That's it.

Hi Michal,

now i see the real problem:

the locus-team obviously has not yet recognized that locus is also a realy perfect tool for river-traveling, using brouter with river.brf as routingmachine. imagine: sitting in a kanu travelling from A to B. river divides into onehundred arms. starting locus with brouter active ... you will find the right riverarm to B.

This is a subject you should put into your Locus-marketing. And please create an active profile with a boat as icon.

Have a nice time...

Hi Hans,

according to our regular user surveys only a tiny percent of our users use Locus for canoeing and even smaller amount for river or train navigation. Therefore, setting up icons for boat and train profiles would be cost ineffective and as such has been declined by the developers. I'm sorry.

You thinking or you are sure that only "tiny percent" using Locus for other then your proposed targets? The main advantage of Locus really is: It is open for all activities. Please make an option to change/add Icons to the routing set (e.g. Water Activities). Thanks a lot!

Hi Karsten,

loook at this IDEA, also from me:

User-defined BRouter profiles in routeplanner (instead of fixed profiles)

Here are all this shit-profile-problems solved - if this IDEA would be realized by the locus-crew.

Inside of a very nice locus pro, you find this profile-system-botch (garbage). should be removed by my idea.

Best Regards

Hans

Hi Karsten, Hans,

it's not just about an icon. The whole system would have to be rebuilt and all that work for some 1,5% of users who claim they use Locus when canoeing. For now, we have much more to do elsewhere, sorry.

Sorry to see this left like this. I would much like BRouter rail and river profiles accessible in Locus without special hassle.
