Missing tracks and settings
Solved
I've got problem with missing recorded tracks. I didn't use Locus for about two months. Today I started it and record my cycle route. I didn't notice anything wrong until Locus asked me where to save track. I had several folders for different activities and now all of them are gone with recorded tracks. Is there any chance to get them back? In backup folder there is only one file - created automaticly today.

Hi Michal,
did you store Locus map in your phone internal memory or on your external SD card?
- internal memory - Locus Map doesn't wipe out its own data - most often it's "work" of some phone internal "cleaner". Do you use any? Especially Xiaomi has a very aggressive one.
As for the backups - if you didn't set up cloud backup (to Dropbox, for example), I'm afraid also your backup files are gone.
- external SD card - SD cards are not very reliable and it often happens they fail and data on it is inaccessible. In such case Locus Map creates a new directory structure in the phone internal memory and of course a new track/point database which is empty.

Thx for reply.
To be honest I don't know where all data were stored. For now Locus folder is on external SD card. There is one more thing - yestrday when I've started application there was no offline OSM map which I've downloaded earlier.
I also tried to recover any old data from SD card. There was a backup file form January 2019 but I cannot import any data from this file.

Hi Michal,
search thoroughly your phone internal memory and external SD card for Locus data. If, accidentally, there are two main Locus directories. Also go to Locus menu > About app/Support > About app > working directory.
How can't you import data from the backup file? Do you use the backup manager for it?

There is only one Locus folder - on the SD card. I can't import backup file because it's corrupted.
It all seems like fresh new installation of Locus Map. I've lost all data - tracks, points, etc. Still I don't know how it happened.
This is good lesson to do regular backups.

Hi Michal,
I'm very sorry for this issue but as I had written - external SD cards are not very reliable and it often happens they fail and data on it is inaccessible. The reason is - Locus Map works with database files that require very fast random read/write regime. External SD cards are not designed for this operations and theil often fail after several thousands operation cycles. Therefore, we strongly recommend to use Locus map in internal memory and use external SD card only as storage for maps. More instructions and tips here: https://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:faq:locus_on_external_sdcard#locus_in_internal_and_some_data_in_external_storage_-_recommended.
And, of course, set up regular backups of complete database and settings to a cloud (Dropbox or Google Drive). More info at https://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:tools:backup#automatic_backup.
