mn dnr boat launch sites
Answered
This page has a bunch of data on all the public boat launches in MN:https://gisdata.mn.gov/dataset/loc-water-access-sites
How do I get that into Locus?
Hi Phil,
- download the shapefile from ftp://ftp.gisdata.mn.gov/pub/gdrs/data/pub/us_mn_state_dnr/loc_water_access_sites/shp_loc_water_access_sites.zip
- convert it to a KML file that Locus Map can read (see how to do it: https://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:advanced:map_tools:conversion#how_to_convert_shp_file_for_locus)
- import the KML into Locus (https://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:functions:data_import)
- enjoy
best regards

Thanks, that's helpful. Is there an OSX or Android way to convert the shape file to KML?

Found this to convert the file:https://www.gisconvert.com/
I was able to convert and import. However, all the point names are the same and so it would only import one of the points. Can I set locus to allow duplicate names? How do I work around this?

Found it! I'm good to go! I have all the points imported.
Thanks!

Hi Phil,
yes there is an Android way to convert the shape file to KML - Locus GIS (available for free at Google Play). I thought you would prefer some more robust solution :) Nevertheless, you have found the way yourself, so for the future :)
best regards
