Mouse-wheel to zoom the map in and out
Completed
Hi everybody,
since we can add some USB gadgets to our Android devices, there is the possibility to use a mouse as input type.
Mouse actions in Locus are limited to the following:
left click (short and long) performs the desired action, same as touch input with a finger
left click and hold moves the map around
right click behaves the same as the back button on the device
pressing the mouse wheel opens the menu
For some reason, I miss functionalities for zooming like on desktop computer while using Google maps for example. This means:
using mouse wheel zooms the map in and out
click, hold and draw a square to zoom to that area
What do you guys think about these options? Would you use them?
Cheers, berkley
mousewheel zoom in/out
+1 for your persistence ;)
also useful in virtual machines

I`m not sure if "click, hold and draw a square to zoom to that area" is really useful, but zoom by mouse wheel is now working ;) ... funny

Thanks for implementing this old idea ;)
However it zooms on map center, but as you are using a mouse as input device, wouldn`t it be more logical to zoom on mouse position?

Hi, does zooming in and out with a mouse wheel work on Locus with any mouse or only with specific ones? Do you have experience with specific mice?
It would be a great feature for me, having a Motorola Atrix LapDock!
Cheers!

I think it should work with every mouse that works over USB with your device. There is nothing easier than to test it on your own ;)

Hello Menio.
hope it's easy for you to stop zooming with mouse wheel, while menu is open?
-> scolling in menu list up ad down with mouse wheel works fine.
but if I'm top (or end) of list - the map zooms.

Hi, Menion.
Map zooming by mouse wheel doesn't work in my VM which is the latest Genymotion running on Ubuntu 12.04. Could you please fix that?
By the way, on the same VM, mouse clicks and dragging are working fine and mouse wheel is working for menu scrolling.

hmm I don't see any problem here with VM and mouse wheel zooming.

I've installed Genymotion and it's a small problem in incorrect reporting of scroll events in emulator. Anyway I'm able to fix it on my side, so it will work correctly in next Locus version
