navigation for long distances
Hello,
I encounter some problems in navigation. I choose to navigate inside my country 500kms and it works nicely, though takes some time. I have installed all OpenAndromaps on the SD card. I am using BRouter for offline navigation and Locus Map Pro.
When I calculate outside the country, takes a lot of time and the screen turns off in the meanwhile. I turn it on a few times and finally I get the navigation screen.
When I set it to navigate from Greece to Scotland, it never finishes. I also get the message:
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Failed to allocate a 1772552 byte allocation wit 16720608 free bytes and 58MB until OOM; failed due to fragmentation (required continuous free 1773568 yteswhere largest contiguous free 1646592 bytes).
I believe I have enough free storage. What can I do to overcome this?

BRouter is a hiking/biking router working with a huge route database, much bigger than an ordinary car navigation. Such distances are simply too complex for it to calculate. Use GraphHopper instead - all calculations are executed server-side and are much faster. Or, if you prefer an offline solution in a car, use some car-dedicated navigation (Sygic, Tomtom etc...).

I tried again increasing the time screen stays on to 10min. Navigation to Italy from Greece works fine, taking 5min to complete. Navigation to Scotland from Greece takes around 6 min and stops with the note: memory limit reached.
My internal storage has 17.1GB free and my SD card 25.4GB free.
Any thoughts?

I understand the task for long distance navigation is challenging for BRouter. However it managed fine 2 months ago. And much faster, all the way to Scotland. Maybe the last updates made the difference..?

BRouter is still a separate app closely cooperating with Locus. We do not change its code and we have no influence on its development.

I can get navigation for 1200kms, but cannot connect with ferries.

O.K. I found out my settings are not correct. That is why it takes so much time to navigate and travelling time is so long. Can I set travel speed of the motorcycle profile? Can you point me to the different settings for profile choice?

in Locus Map, there are only a few BRouter profiles implemented, see https://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:functions:navigation:settings#navigation_data_source. If you are interested in more advanced profiling, please visit https://github.com/poutnikl/Brouter-profiles/wiki.
