Need to add elevation for every track

Hi,

first, at this point, a very big thanks for this great software with this big benefit for me!

In daily usage I track all my bicycle rides. But for every track I need to "add elevation" to get the correct height meters. Is there a way to fix that automatically? Or do I need to set anything in height measurement? For every track I get between 20 and 30 meters more than it would be real.

Hi,

for this I use routeconverter.

Export track as a gpx file. Open this file with routeconverter. Mark every waypoint in the position list. Select "Position --> Complete... -->Elevation". Now you should see the corrected elevation in the position list. Save the gpx file. Import the gpx file again into locus.

Sorry, you misunderstood. This function ist 2 taps away in Locus. Called "add elevation". But I'd like to get it automatically done after saving a track. Or I need to do any setting in height measurement. But then I don't know which one.

Hi,

I see .... at least I know now that there is such a function direct within Locus ;-). Thanks for the info.

Hi,

you say 20-30 elevation meters deviation - what measurement do you use as a reference? SRTM data? 3D terrain model consists of elevation squares of 30 - 90m depending on area so the elevation gain calculated form it is always generalized, i.e. averaged.

As a matter of fact, with a smartphone you'll never get precisely accurate elevation gain. However, there are methods how to optimize GPS calculated values - by setting up altitude offset, HGT elevation data or a barometer. Go to Locus settings > GPS&Location > Settings tab > Altitude offset - turn it on on, go to the Offset tab and select Automatic correction. Locus settings > GPS&Location > Settings tab > SRTM data (select "Optimize GPS values" or "Replace GPS values" if you don't want to use GPS measuring at all), use Pressure sensor (if installed on phone), Altitude filter (select from no filtration to ultra heavy).

Thank you Michal! I now replace the GPS values with the SRTM data and it works great. Nothing else I did so far - but manually. Sorry for that thread, but there are so many options in settings (which is the reason I changed from Strava to Locus for daily tracking) ;-)
