New maps cannot be included within Locus

Dear All,

maybe you know the page http://www.openandromaps.org/

Here you can either download maps on your desktop computer, to move them onto your smartphone device or you can directly download and open the maps with Locus.

I wanted to download/include a map of Nepal and tried both ways.

Unfortunately both of them are not working:

1) When I am downloading the map on my desktop computer and move them into the Locus/Maps folder, Locus says, that no file is there.

It is also suprising, that I cannot find any maps, which are already included withi Locus.

2) When I am downloading the map directly thrughout Locus, the app says after 100%, that the map cannot be opened.

I don't understand why and would kindly ask you to provide me with some support.

Many thanks

Hi Bastian.

The non-Locus maps need to be in the Locus/mapsVector folder, not Locus/Maps. Or better, put them in a subfolder of your choosing. I use Locus/mapsVector/sideloaded to avoid confusion with LoMaps.

Enjoy.

1) Hm, I have moved the nepal.map into the Locus/mapsVector folder, so no subfolder. But when I want to change the map folder via offline > add > folder adding > external maps it says "problem with nepal.map

So although there is a map for sure, Locus is not including them.

2) The identical nepal map I am using also with Osmand. So the looking of the map must be the same both in Locus and in Osmand right?

If you're changing folder settings, then my advice doesn't apply. Good luck.

What do you mean?

What should I do?

Dear Bastian,

Locus supports OpenAndroMaps (OAM) maps. But honestly we aren't responsible for their functionality. However please try following steps:

1. It's not needed to manually add Locus/mapsVector as external folder. Locus automatically scan this folder. Please remove the definition

2. Remove all copies of Nepal.map files from Locus/maps and Locus/mapsVector

3. Please check Menu > Settings > Misc > Default directories > item "mapsVector directory" > check that in second row is written "DEFAULT"

4. Please try to download Nepal map again and place it into folder Locus/mapsVector/asia

Please let me know about progress

Regards

Petr

Hello Petr,

I have re-installed Locus and tried to add a map, it is working now :)

I don't know, BUT although the path for the maps is sdcard/locus.... the installed maps from Openadroid will be moved to the internal save device and not the internal one.

Any ideas?

Hello Bastian,

thank you for info - well the restart or re-install is sometimes the best solution.

Unfortunately I'm not sure if I can understand your last sentence: the installed maps from Openadroid will be moved to the internal save device and not the internal one.

Would you describe the question more detailed, please?

1. When I am downloading a map file from openandroidmaps it is going onto the smartphone harddisk, not the external SDcard. That is why I am asking.

2. Nepal.map seems to be corrupted. What can I do, that someone is checking the map?

1. Maps are downloaded into default folder for vector maps that is (in your case) located in internal memory

2. As I wrote please try to re-download nepal map or report the issue on OAM page.
