No town names when zoomed out >20km

When I zoom out beyond 20km (on he zoom indicator) on my local LoMap, all I get is the coastal outline. All town names and major roads disappear. Is there a fix for this? Screenshot attached.

Thanks for your help.

(1.) Do you have installed a world base map you can find in Locus Store or here?

(2.) Do you have the correct settings for preload global map as described here? This setting can be found in "Einstellungen --> Karten --> Erweiterte Funktionen" (Sorry for the german menunames).

Hi, vielen Dank for helping out!

re point 2. - yes, preload is switched on - thanks for the heads-up on that.

re point 1. - I think I have this installed. I've got OSM Classic. Please have a look at the new screenshot attached and let me know if I'm doing the right thing. But even when I view only this map, the result is the same: all details disappear when zooming beyond 20km

I think I've got it!!

For point 2 (preload) I looked at the wrong line... (optimize raster map toggle). Instead I realise now that I had to tap on 'Pre-load global map' and choose one. I picked 'OSM-Other-Classic' and "bingo" it all works. Zooming out now to indefinite levels and it all works and town names are displayed. Screenshot attached.

Ok, next problem then: this seems to be an online map only at that those large zoom levels. Is there a way to make them offline also?

Hi,

both maps from my first post are offline maps. First you have to download at least one of them to your smartphone.

The one from Locus Store seems to be a vectormap. In my case it is installed in the "\mapsVector\_world\" folder of Locus. You can find it in Locus Store if you search for "World base map".

The one from OpenAndroMaps seems to be a raster map. I installed it in "maps\OAM\WorldMap" folder of Locus. You can directly download it to Locus by clicking the "Install World 1-10 ~1.2/2.2 GB" button on your smartphone in the Locus section of my link above.

If you do so, you can then select either "World" (world map from Locus Store) or "W1-10-MBt" (world map from OpenAndroMaps) in the 'Pre-load global map' selection dialog. Both maps are show in the group "Eigene Karten".

Thanks again for your continued help - I'm slowly making progress :-)

Ah yes, I didn't quite follow all of your earlier instructions to download and install the OpenAndroMaps. Now that I have (over 2GB - ouch!) I am indeed getting the option to use that map under 'Personal Maps' (Eigene Karten) in the 'Pre-load global map' window. I think we can just about call this one 'solved'.

Interestingly, Locus Store does not seem to be giving me an option to purchase/download a global map. Only local maps are available. Is there a trick?

(1.) Open Locus Store

(2.) Search "World base map"

(3.) Install "World base map"

See attached screenshots.

Thank you very much c.s.g. You are a Locus ninja! I managed to install the Locus World Base map with your instructions. Strange that it is not more obvious for downloading, but hey - got it now.

Have a fantastic Christmas. I feel like I've got my present already with Locus now working the way I hoped.

Mit vielen Gruessen,

Hi,

thanks c.s.g for help. From my opinion is the easiest solution to use mentioned Vector Base map as global pre-load. Other maps can have bigger size but better appearance. However I'm glad thats 'solved'
