Solved

After update, I lost the ability to use Google maps for navigation. I can still use Street View (and AT&T Navigator).

what means "lost"?

disappeared from the drop down menu?

Yes.

On the other hand I did not use to have "AT&T Navigator" on the drop down menu before, and I don`t really want it there. Is there any way for me to chose?

This app is registered in your android as default navigation app.

Locus only show this 3rd party app. You can`t change anything.

edit:

I see, Menion has already changed something in this case . Please try it in next version 2.8.2(?)

Many thanks for your prompt replies! I will keep my fingers crossed for the next version.

PS. I envied you for the screenshot of your drop down menu!

PPS. By the way, "AT&T Navigator" appears twice in mine.

Seems this is similar to the problem gynta referenced (and I reported) above.

This is why I mentioned that "AT&T Navigator " appears twice.

Michael and Tommi,

may you please check this test version? https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8015949/Locu...

just for your information. In previous versions, there was "Navigation" and "Maps" button. Both started general request in system for navigation and maps. Anyway both had icons already used in Locus. As gynta in one topic correctly mentioned, it was quite confusing, because icon with label "Maps" and icons for Locus maps, started choice dialog where was Google Maps and others

so in 2.8.0 version, I changed these buttons (as well as buttons for Google Earth etc.) so they show correctly name and icons of available programs. Anyway in case there is more then one program, that can handle "maps" request, I have to choose right name and icon ...

ah damn, to make story short, just test it and let me know. Count that "Navigation" and "Maps" buttons in last point sub-menu, should allow you to choose application that will handle request from locus

Looks good now.

Only one question: You changed Radar to Radar and Navigation. I think both mean the compass with the red guiding triangle. Right?

photo

hmm don`t understand

"Radar" should be in last sub-menu in case you have installed GPS status or similar application

"Compass" is still under "guide to" button (usually in the middle of bottom panel of points)

yep - Radar means also a 3rd party app

using also a Locus symbol twice

Sorry, I mixed up the compass screen of Locus with the one of GPS Status.

But:

In latest official version there is nfc, share, radar in the last sub menu. When I type on Radar Android gives a choice between Locus pro and free and GPS status.

In the test version there is no more radar in the last sub menu but "Radar and Navigation" in the first sub menu.

Is this change intentional?

ah perfect, finally understand

so, yes I removed radar item, because it was also very confusing. By tapping on it, it allow to choose locus again! plus other apps. But "radar" (compass) is already in previous sub-menu. Now, in this menu are generated buttons for applications, that can handle as an radar, so for example GPS status.

It`s same for navigation and maps button on your second screenshot. All three buttons are generated from content in your phone. If you have one application that can handle request (to navigate, to display on map, to display in some compass), except Locus, it directly start it. If you have more apps, Android offer you which you want.

I hope this solution is much better then before. For you it`s maybe little but confusing, because you knew previous system.

No, I think the new system is beautiful!

Fine, glad to hear :)

Sorry for my silence, but my phone is not rooted, and I don`t know how to install apps that are not on Google Marketplace. I guess I`ll have to wait for the official update.

Michael, on many unrooted phones the setting to allow installation is at settings/security/unknown sources.

Tommi, thanks for the tip. Unfortunately not on mine. It contains just password and lock screen settings.

this settings is on older devices directly under settings/applications

Could not find it there either. It has a tab called Development, and a setting for USB debugging, but I don`t know how to use that.

in this case no problem at all, in the next version it`ll be fixed anyway.
