Not able to set a shape point in the route planner
Closed
The line in the routeplanner starts in Harwich and ends in Cardiff. No via or shape points. I try to set a shapepoint like recorded in this video
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1CoXrZ-kFQP9zftKin5aBv7Lu4HLxOdVl
Locus did not create a via point, it create a start point of the route instead I used the button in the middle. GPS-Data N 51°53.718' , E 000°54.738'
Tested on three devices with three different version of android.
So the problem is, if I want to create a point inside the route using the button in the middle of this panel downside of this screenshot.
This are the starting conditions
Than I choose a point like this
Hit the middle button of the panel downside and get this result
I have tried also with a different point more far away from point 1. The result is
I have tried more situations
The result:
So I choosed a routing profile instead of manually drawing.
Used the middle button, the result was
So i tried a more realistic situation
The result

Good day Stephan,
I think we have here one misunderstanding and one issue in the app.
First: misunderstanding > middle button when you add a new point into plan does not exactly mean "put into the middle of the plan", but better "put into nearest segment".
So in the first case, there is an issue and new "Douglas road 121" should really be placed into the middle of 1-2 points. Problem found (caused by too long 1-2 distance, try shorter below 100km and it will work) and fixed now.
Anyway, in rest of your cases, it is correct. Locus test if the new point has shorted distance to point 1 (then add new point before point 1), or to point 2 (then add new point after point 2) or is somewhere middle (then split existing 1-2 segment add it into the middle).
Hope my explanation is clear. Feel free to ask if something is not clear.

Personaly I think, calling my use incorrect, without knowing, what I have
done, is being rude.
First at all the middle button do not behave like described in the manual.
It is incorrect use following the manual?
But I cite you:
"Anyway, in rest of your cases, it is correct. Locus test if the new point

point 2 (then add new point after point 2) or is somewhere middle (then

If you would think precise, you would relize, that I have to decided, what
will happen.
If you are going on thinking precise, you would realize, that
1.) There are cases, where it is hard to estimate the distance and predict
the result.
2.) There are cases, where you can not see point 1 and/or 2. So you are not
able to predict the result.
I am just planning 4000 km cycling in Europe. There are many small bugs,
which show a kind of unprecision.
But is annoying to report them, because of this kind of answers.

Stephan, the word "incorrect" was used in the sentence in the meaning of: "If you do something that results in something you do not want = incorrect, there is ...".

agree

and agree
Anyway, my question remains: "What you expect from this button to do??". I still do not see any better and more predictable behavior. There is still an option to add points into the middle of the segment by dragging the middle red point on the line, which will create new two lines.
