Not talk to me

Tonny Kokkeler shared this problem 7 years ago
Solved

Hi Locus,

I can not get Locusmap to talk to me after one km or the time.

I probably do something wrong but what?

I use the pro version on Samsung S8

What can you do for me?

Regards,

Tonny

Hi Tonny,

check your text-to-speech settings in Locus settings > Language&units. If your TTS engine works OK with selected language etc. Test it by the test button. If not, try to change the TTS engine or install another from Google Play Store. Some engines also need to download languages separately. Common engines like Google TTS, Pico TTS or Vocalizer work OK.

best regards

Michal

Hi Michal,

Thanks for your reply.

When testing it (Google) it works fine, now try Samsung and see if it makes a difference.

I'll let you know.

Tonny

Samsung or Google engine, it makes no difference, not talk..

Testing works fine the same as other apps like Endomondo or Runtastic they have no problem too so I wonder if it can be a setting problem?

Hi, TTS settings in Locus are obviously OK so the problem may be in settings of the feature you use TTS for - is it navigation or audio coach?

Hi, Navigation is TTS system and audio coach is, distance, average speed and the time.

I think that should be good too..?

It should... do you have the latest version of LocusMap?

Yes it should... ☺ but it doesn't..

Version 3.27.1 only buy it a few days ago.

Maybe there is a problem with Locusmap and Samsung S8?

Let's summarize a bit - when you push the test phrase button in Locus settings > Language&units >Text-to-speech - you hear the test phrase correctly, right? But when you start navigation or audio coach there's no voice output? Of course you have to be in activity (movement) - navigation commands are triggered before turns, all the same with audio coach - voice comments are emitted at defined laps (intervals).

Problem is, I can't simulate your issue on Nexus7 and Xiaomi Mi3 but I personally don't have Samsung S8 and we don't register any similar issues with this phone.

Yes I hear the test correctly.

I walk every day about 16 km and it is set after 1000 meter so I should hear it a lot of times.

But.... Talking about lap intervals, I changed something there but can not find it again...

Can you give me the path?

Audio coach is set in track recording settings where you define individual training programs. Each is based on events that are triggered in distance or time intervals. Training programs then can be connected with a track recording profile to start automatically with when the recording is started - this is set in the track recording profile settings.

Yes OK but I seem to remember that there was a setting about lap intervals, other than the one you mentioned.

These intervals I made very high and this could be the problem...

I think I found what I was looking for, it was the laps in the walk after you finished it..

This you can change...

But why then not talk to me....?

Track record is activated ? No trackrecord no message.

Yes all tracks are recorded. ☺

I think the process of audio coach setting is quite comprehensively described here: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:tracks:recording:trainingmanager, including setting of the interval of notifications (distance or time). If all is set as should be in your phone and you don't receive voice notifications in set intervals (and your TTS is set correctly, and proved by testing) then I'm afraid I can't help other way than recommend to backup your data (maps, tracks, points) and try to reinstall.

Yes Michal I saw this FAQ and I checked everything and it should work.

But reinstall can be a good option ☺

Thanks for your help so far and I'll let you know if that fixes the problem.

I think reinstalling did the trick, when navigate to a point I hear "let's go" ☺

good news! test it all and then please let me know how it is

I'll let you know tomorrow, now check my settings because today's walk was without talking..

Yes Michal everything works fine now ☺ the problem is solved!

Looking back the problem could have been my way of upgrading to the pro version.

I installed the pro version and then removed the free version, maybe there things did go wrong...?

But thanks for all the help again. 👍

Superb news. By installing Pro and uninstalling Free version nothing is spoiled - both apps share the same directories. But obviously something did happen :)

I always like to know why something happens, but maybe this stays unknown... 🙃
