Notifying user on waypoint proximity by vibration.

Since the sound notification may be intrusive in some places, I would suggest an alternative approach using vibration to indicate the waypoint proximity similarly to the sound notification (single 2-3s vibration/frequency-based vibrations instead of sounds when getting closer/farther) as an alternative to sound notification.

And also made it available in the alert "when too far from track".

An option :

Sound

Vibration

Sound + Vibration

Thx

Hi,

hard to tell just from the screenshots, seems OK. I assume it works the same way as the beep when getting closer to the point (e.g. the frequency of vibrations increases)?

I will reply more thoroughly by other means.

Hi Menion I`ve never seen these screenshot on my phone (maybe ICS Pad screenshot ?) but it looks fine :)

I also see the auto-best-point option :-)

"auto-best-point option" is already in market version 2.1.1. These screenshots are from Xoom running ICS. I put them here mainly to notify about current system. If on first sight contain all that`s needed.

Currently Paul (moravecp) test for me some version and seems to work. We only discuss about vibration when you have enabled guide on single point with "Increase frequency when getting closer". Do others this that increasing vibration on this should be also useful? And if so, is there required any extra settings?

So - field test was OK (I am not sure how the distance from from track is calculated for "too far from track") but it works. So the only problem in test version is the handling of waypoint-based subsettings you already know about.

perfect Paul, thanks.

distance from track is computed .. hmm hard to explain. I test position of your location (or map center) to line define by two points. Ah damn ... if you`ll be interested, I should draw some pictures for that rather then describe it by words anyway important is that it works :)

I`m going to look on ability to "Increase vibrate when .." how this will work ...

EDIT: not a big problem to add vibration also on "Increase freq. ..." .. works now and seems to be quite useful!
