Offline voice guidance along pre-recorded offroad track?

Paul Mikhelson shared this question 10 years ago
Answered

I can record a track and display it on the screen again. When I ask to "navigate" along it, all I get is point-to point distances with an arrow to the next point and a beep. I would like turn by turn voice guidance along a pre-recorded track. How do I acgtivate this feature??? I have been searching for this for days, on the app and on the net. Please help.

Good day Paul,

sorry for a late response. Please check our fresh manual on this page http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:functions:navigation:along-route , it should help you!

The link above is not working. :-) Dont know what is going on, on this matter ...

You can select track you made, and choose for 'navigation', the TTS guide voice is perfect then, but locus makes his own road track to the select point on the track ... On what navigation modus it's operating at that point (by foot or bike or car, is dubious ...) If you choose guidance instead of navigation, there is no guiding voice from the tts, only a few useless beeps. So, two quite useless tools at this moment for voice guiding along a track. I use Locus almost at daily base and I cant figure out what are the right possibilities. Not that it matters, but I have a master degree in IT, and it disturbs me alot, it's not working it should be. :-(

Normally the settings should be 'strictly along the road', so in that case locus should not be able to calculate an own route ... Recalculation off is also needed along the manual. Dont know how it could recalculate between two trackpoints, but okay ...

  1. If you choose guidance instead of navigation, there is no guiding voice from the tts, only a few useless beeps

for text to speech go to

settings/Guidance/Set notification of next direction change, switch"ON" and click on textfield/select "Text to speech" and choose SET

so you hear voice and no beep

- Guiding: see above reply by balloni55

- Navigation along track:

Activate "Navigation along excisting track" by tapping a displayed (gpx)trackline, then select Navigation.

An example, showing set up (very customisable !) and how to correctly start a navigation along track.

Hi Marc and Wolfgang.

Marc, what if selecting Navigation (not guiding) as shown in the video. Ok ?

Navigation ALONG excisting track ! Attention: After tapping on the trackline start Navigation as shown in the video ! Do NOT start by the 'Navigate to" button function ! Then Locus by router suggest a new track from your position to point on map !

Crash problem in guiding: Probably caused by a known issue reported by user "Bucky Kid".

Details here.

Should be solved in next public Locus version.

(In actual Locus Beta version v 3.11.3.3 = ok).

I use 3.11.3 Normally I tap just on the loaded track to start up the navigation, dont use the nav button.

Visited the movie on youtube. Following the locus manual, one should choose the selection 'strictly along the road', and that is not what I notice in the youtube movie. (clearly unchecked this selection there) The example was not okay anyhow, since a recalculation of the route would deliver the same route in this case. (no other possibility)

It would be so nice if every setting would be numbered on the screen, the manual, help online etc ... Now if one is not using English as your native language, it's very confusing to find the concerned issue.

For instance, the setting in Dutch 'Strikte route navigatie' could be followed for instance by 'N01' (in very small red characters or so) to make in very clear to everyone.

I will control a few things and let you know.

Marc,

In short video demo's it is impossible to show ALL working set up combinations !

In first (simple track) example. Yes, eventual auto(re)routing (OSM data) follows that same (logical) shortest traject.

Simple A->B track, no need for strict Navigation, = flexibility to leave track, visit offtrack POI's, return to track

In test/drives using complicated designs as 8-track, strict Navigation mode is prefered. To be used in complicated "circuit" drives. No track "shortcuts" allowed ! Curious ? http://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?topic=4656.0

Second example: (same settings as in previous video). https://youtu.be/LImo0DtdKuA

Track is NOT rerouted at Navstart ! Auto(re)route should result in a short track only.

On/Off road mix. Video demo only ! Do not drive...farmer should not appreciate ;-)

Did a few tests this afternoon. Both options 'navigation' and 'guiding' are working now completely with TTS. The error crash in the 'guiding' can be worked around with deselection of the 'notification on every waypoint' in the settings.

If have TTS voice on both options, but 'guiding' seems to be only usefull in complete offroad settings, without real routing. Since almost every little track in the wood here is on the router engine (brouter, mapquest) the navigation option works perfectly. (with the option 'strictly follow the route') Of course it's not that simple to show all the options. Mentioned already before the lack of ways to refer to a setting regardless the used language . (app-manual-forum) I am for sure not the only one who was losing his sight on the possibilities of the app.
