Only display/screen on short before guidance instruction

Is it possible to activate the screen/display only short before the next guidance instruction (Peep or TTS) during guidance along a GPX file? After the instruction, the display should be off again until the next instruction.
It would save a lot of battery.

I take it you are a biker. Ok, +1 for bikers. As a hiker I say make it a selectable option, because when hiking my phone is in my pocket. And I use the on/off button of my phone for a short glance at the screen when needed.

When using the guidance feature in an automobile, with the phone plugged into a power source, I prefer the display to be on all the time. With occasional glances I or my passenger can judge when the next instruction will be issued and it won`t be a surprise.
I agree, a selectable feature.

On second thought , I set my phone screen display to never turn off when driving. In my phone with the screen timeout set at xx sec the screen will light up with the instruction, then automatically turn off at the set xx interval.
So it already exists at least in my phone (LG Optimus P769)

Interesting, so with your phone the function is already available?
Where is the setup "never turn off when driving" - in Locus?
The screen timeout is in the android display setup, i assume, right?

Navigon Navigating App has this option since a few updates (Energy Saver) and only activates the screen, when an instruction is needed.
Why isn`t it possible in Locus?

This is definitely a feature I would appreciate very much. The screens of the smartphone use a lot of power. So when I want to go biking (mountainbiking) for a while I need to turn of the screen most of the time. But I dont want to miss the my turns. Using voice guidance is not really an option, because I do not want to use headphones (poor when biking with others) or let my phone scream at me ;-). Just lighting up the screen before a turn would be nice.

Hope you guy noticed that this feature is since 2.14.0 also implemented. Check menu > settings > general > Control screen on/off

Hey thanks for the hint. I tried it with navigation the last days and it seems to work fine. Next will be a test with guiding.
