Open new geocaching app from groundspeak via Locus
Answered
Hello,
when I click the "Cache Code" button on the "Allgemein" Tab of a geocache, I am able to send this cache to the old geocaching app from groundspeak you can find here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.groundspeak.geocaching.
But after installing the new geocaching app from groundspeak you can find here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.groundspeak.geocaching.intro I am not able to send the geocache to that new app of groundspeak because it is not offered in the corresponding selection window.
Is ihis a bug of Locus?
Or does the new geocaching app from groundspeak does not support such feature anymore?
I am using the latest Locus Pro Version 3.15.3.

Hello,
all such communication between applications in Android is based on anonymous "calls". This means that when you tap on cache code in Locus, Locus just say to system "display this URL address in any application". And it's on app itself, if is registered and is able to display certain type of URL, in this case, if is able to handle "http://coord.info/gc1etwh" url. So this is indeed issue on Geocaching app, not in Locus.

On the Groundspeak forums, people have mentioned the problem, and Groundspeak has promised a fix soon.
(But if you have Locus, I can't fathom why you'd want to use the Groundspeak app...)

Hello Viajero,
you are absolutely right. Locus is the best app for geocaching.
I only use the groundspeak app if locus can not display the cache listing in a correct way because the owner is using "strange" html code in his listing, especially in earth cache listings. The groundspeak app then often (but not always) can display the listing correct, so I can read it and then return to Locus to do the rest.
But to be true this happend only once or twice so far.
