Outdoor (4Umaps) says "map is not available for this area" Vancouver BC Canada.

Solved

I had been using Outdoor (4Umaps) online successfully with Locus Pro then recently are started to get "map is not available for this area" . Any suggestions.

Hello guys,

give us please exact coordinates where you see this error (because for me it works correctly on all places I tried) and zoom level. We may then forward this problem to owner of 4UMaps, because it looks like more a problem of a map provider, then Locus itself.

Can concur. 4umaps has been down the last couple weeks for me. Doesn't seem to work for any location. Please advise.

Hi Guys,

I'd like to inform you that we've contacted the providers of 4Umaps to get more information. It really seems that issue is not caused by Locus app. I'll write more as soon as I get some response from map provider.

EDIT:

It seems that Locus can really have some troubles to load 4Umaps (on some devices). We'll focus on it during this week.

Problem will be fixed in next Locus version. It'll be released during first two weeks on August. Unfortunately, the solution is not ideal. So please feel free to write us as soon as 4Umaps won't be available again.

OK there is a workaround:

- download attached *.zip file

- unpack it into folder /Locus/mapsOnline/custom/

- restart Locus

This file adds new online map (called "4Umaps - custom") in the end of list of Online maps. Please remove this file after update on next version.

This workarround does not work for me. I copied the file in the directory and started locus. When selecting 4umaps in the online map tab. But still it indicates "card area not available". What do I make wrong

I do not exactly know what Petr prepared for you, but few hours ago was published new Beta version of Locus ( http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:about:free_beta_testing ) so You may try it if it already works in new version. Just another "workaround".

You need to use Menu > Maps > Onlikne > 4Umaps - custom (in the end of the list). However the beta version is better solution.

The problem, that 4umaps aren't available, is back again. I'm using Locus Free V. 3.12.0 and tried 4umaps online of Germany and northern Austria. Download of 4umaps tiles isn't possible too. Homepage of 4umaps currently is online and is showing my desired map tiles. Is there a solution for this new occurrence of the same problem as 2 months ago?

Since I am back in Germany, the problem is gone. I just could see and download my desired map tiles. No idea, what was wrong, when I was in Austria yesterday. By the way: I had to overwrite map tiles older than 0 days, cause I obviously downloaded blank map tiles yesterday.

Hi,

your issue in Austria was very likely caused due to some maintenance on the server side of the provider. I've received message from the administrator of 4Umaps and they work on some changes that probably can caused the map was not available because changes in tile URL.

Since the last update I have not been able to download 4UMaps anymore. I am in Germany. It is a problem of the maps or Locus? I have already cleared the cache but it does not work yet.

thank you for post and I'm sorry for troubles. Unfortunately the 4Umaps server changed the address for map data (tiles). The issue will be fixed in next version.

Hi all,

yes, I also have trouble with downloading 4Umaps. I just got new version 3.20.2 of Locus Map. But the download failes ever. So the version with the fix will be 3.20.3, right? Can you say, when it will be available?

And just a wish for some future version: Could Locus Map be able to recognize, that no map tiles are available, and then give an error message instead of overwriting the older tiles with blank ones?

Hi,

I'm sorry for troubles. Well sometimes it's difficult to recognize if map server response with blank tiles or correct map tile. Unfortunately the issue occurred just after release 3.30.2 The next version will be released in next two or three weeks.
