Persist "recording buttons" on screen

CK shared this idea 11 years ago
Completed

I use Locus mainly for recording my tracks. It bothers me though to always have to reenable the "recording buttons" on each new startup. Please persist the buttons on screen until I manually click the close button to remove it again.

... some feedback on this as well:

I think the recording feature is really hidden. For me it took ages to find on how I can start recording a track. Every other GPS app I used had it accessible through 1 click or straight in the interface. Maybe the user base is different for Locus though it might not be as important.

I usually switch maps seldomly, so I rather have a recording button instead of the switch maps button on the main interface. Or you could exchange the "track managment" button with a recording button, also a feature I hardly use and would rather expect inside the "functions" menu (where it already is).

Hi,

thanks for comments...there is idea to enable for users to configure top panel. But at this moment ...did you try to configure right panel? Locus enables to define “shortcuts” for functions or apps in right panel. You can’t place recording button here but you can place here the shortcuts to REC function. How to define right panel:

Didn`t know about that. That helps a lot. Thanks!!

Hmm, so I don`t know if "right panel solution" (btw. you may already change also a top panel buttons, just long-click on them) is sufficient for you, and this idea may be closed, or if you have different vision for this

Awesome. I should have just tried that.... awesome you already implemented that. You should implemented a "tips/did you know" popup where you can read about these features. Locus is so powerful, it will take years to know all the features ....

Both ways worked for me. Right panel is a great feature, exchanging the top button is even better.

Thanks! You rock!

I can`t find the right panel. How to turn it on? One link to the manual is not working anymore.

I would still like to have the rec button in the top panel. Stop button is already there why not adding the rec button there too?

Hello Ivo,

seems that manual for "set right panel" has move to this link http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php/manu...

And about already existing "Stop" button - where is it? because as I know, there is no such button in Locus. Only way to control recording is now over bottom panel that appear after you use function "Track record"

Good morning Menion,

if I set up the top panel "Information Panel" and select "Track record", I can see the stop symbol and the message "no recording".

If I start to record a track I see a rec symbol and the record time and recorded meters. Instead of just having information there I would like to have a rec start and pause/stop button there. These would speed up my daily life very much.

understand, but to make this work, whole top panel has to change, because normal tap on panel open menu where you choose what you want to see

I`m sure that if you place track record button into top menu, right panel or even main menu (where you may also change icons), it will also speed up your daily life ;)

Here a pic how I would like to have it.

Ivo,

I understand, but personally do not agree with this idea. I still think that there is many places where you may place shortcut to "Track record" function so this is not needed.

I have set up Right panel visibility to Never hide but I still see no Right panel.

My version is 2.13.0.

Now I got it. After I set it up to visible, I have at first to add functions before I can see it.

It would be nice to have the right panel start at the bottom of the right side and and not in the middle.

I still have the problem that I can not start to record a track. I can just open the track record panel. How can I add a short cut to the main menu? Can I have the recording panel always visible?

Or can I change the Bottom panel? Instead of the Zoom lock / Magnifier I would like to have the track rec button. That would be also a very nice feature! The button could change from rec to stop after pressing it once. Please add this.

Ivo, please create separate topic if you want to discuss some improvements. Every task should have own topic so we could discuss about single feature and not spam topic that created different person!

Edit: and just warning, most of your requests leads to make from locus just a recording tool. But it`s not wanted and possible. If you want to use recording in easier way, then use any specialized tool that has just start/stop buttons, and not locus

I recommend to use the Locus widget..

yes widget is possible to use and also last information: it`s possible to use for example "Tasker" application together with public intents ... more here http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php/manu...

by this, is possible create for example own floating panels with these controls

I looked into Tasker but this is too much for me. I don`t understand how to use this app. I just want to have a rec button in the upper Bottom panel, that`s all. Otherwise I am very happy with Locus Pro and don`t need more. Personally I don`t need the Zoom lock / Magnifier button. Make it customizable and all are fine. Persons who like the Zoom lock / Magnifier button and other who want to have a quicker way to start recording a track.

Hi Ivo

If you don`t want to use the nice widged and if you don`t want to use public intents and if you don`t want to use the current solution - so hopfuly you get some votes: https://getsatisfaction.com/locus/top...

*closed* also on my side ;)

I use the widged but I would like to have the rec button integrated in the home page of Locus.

I don`t understand the public intents solution and how it works.
