Point`s Icon displayed as a dot until zoom level 13

svartbjorn shared this problem 10 years ago
Solved

In earlier versions of Locus a Point`s Icon was displayed unless you really zoomed out far (not to clutter the screen). Only at far zoom out levels, the Point was displayed as a dot. In one of the latest updates of Locus this has changed, so now a Point is displayed as a dot until zoom level 13. Only then the Point changes from a dot to the selected Icon. There is no setting to specify at which zoom level the Point display should change from a dot to the selected Icon. Changing `Map Icon Size` makes no difference.

The option to choose different Icons for different types (groups) of Points is not very useful unless the Icon is displayed even at lower zoom levels (to a certain limit, but that should be 13). May be a user selectable setting in Settings > Map - Objects & Style > Style On Map for zoom level when to change from dot to Icon could be a solution.

I`m trying to reduce number of settings that is in Locus directly. That`s the reason why there is no settings for this feature.

You may notice, no matter how powerful device you have, that many points visible as dots make map much much faster then points draw with full icons. That`s main reason for this feature.

Anyway if you don`t like it, it`s quite simple to change it. In Locus configuration file http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php/manu... is settings map_items_points_simplification_till_zoom which affect this function, so modify it to your needs.

How can I change setting to see points at higher Zoom levels? They disappear now too soon. After 16 I don't see points anymore.

Hmm and you do not see them at all or you see them just as a small dots? If dot's (which should happen), then to change this behavior, it is required to edit config.cfg file in Locus root directory as mentioned above.

I changed to 7 and know they are better visible in higher zoom level but disappear in lower Zoom levels. When I switch to another app and back to Locus they are again visible in the same low Zoom level.

ivo, this looks like problem that has nothing to do with this topic. To fix any problem, in 99% cases, I needs to simulate this problem. In your case, it will be something related to your currently selected map and visible points. So 1. it deserve separate topic, 2. I will need exactly same map you use and exactly same points you see on map. So if it worth for you to fix it, please provide me two above points. Thanks!

Great!!!

I changed the entry in the config file as you suggested to zoom level 7 instead, and now it is really nice. Good to know that I can edit the config file. I fully understand that it is important to keep number of user setting limited.

On my Galaxy Note the zooming on Personal Maps is instantaneous, so this was just great!

Thank you very much for a quick reply!!
