Presentation of Off-Line Personal map sets?

I have 5 RSQL maps in my User Defined Map>Personal folder, for off-line use.

When I select one of the sets ( Highlighted Red in listing) all 5 maps are shown on the screen. Selecting a map set just puts that set in the current view. Can scroll to view the other sets.

Has Locus been configured to do this? I was expecting only one of the map sets would be loaded and viewed. Would then have to reselect another set for viewing.

Thanks

Hello mrthom

nobody answered here - so maybe there is a confusion.

What means "RSQL"?

What means "Set"?

Hello, I apologize. Happy fingers typing away and the mind not thinking.

Situation:

The maps were created using Mobile Atlas Creator in the RMaps-SQLite format (xxxx.SQLitedb) (ie;RSQL)

I have 5 groups(sets) of maps located in my

"external_Sd/Locus/maps" folder.

The folder contains the xxx.sqlitedb map files and Locus has created the xxx.sqlietdb-journal files .

When I select any map from the Maps>Personal option, all of the maps in that option are presented on my phones screen. The maps are overlapping and when I zoom down I can see all of the maps on the screen as one single interconnected map.

As indicated, I was expecting that only the map I had selected would be drawn on the screen and I would have to manually select the next desired map.

When moving from an area in one map to an area in the next adjoining map it does not require me to open up the next map.The transition is automatic and seamless. Did that today.

This is positive,

When selecting a specific map, it places in the center of that map but I can scroll to view the other maps.

The negative is that to draw these maps, they are loaded in the device memory. So if one wanted to store a lot of off-line personal maps(which I had intended to do) the automatic loading of all of the maps could exceed the device`s memory.

Question: Is Locus currently configured to automatically load all of the off-line maps shown in the Maps>Personal option into on single map?

Thanks.

I never even noticed that option. This just shows one how well thought out Locus is.

Thank You...

fine, question answered :)

but just for your information how it works

1. you select any map and locus try to draw it on screen

2. when there is any place where locus miss some tiles (at least 25% of screen), Locus will try to search for map that may fill this empty space

3. if found, just this one map is loaded and used

4. this is repeated during every draw

5. also during every draw, number of used tiles from every map is count, and if there is map that was not used, it`s removed from memory!

this should help keep used memory as low as possible. Anyway if you`re using some older device with very low RAM or if locus crash for you too often, I may also suggest to disable this auto-loading as it may require a little more memory (but not too much more)
