Pressing "Hint" returns "No hint".

Solved

Hi there.

Im not sure if it is error, but if you press on geocache icon on the map, a small menu roll down (with arrow on the right side of menu). Then if you press on the arrow on this small menu, it extends another submenu starting with "Hint" on the top. But if you press on "Hint", you expect geocache hint, but it always returns "No hint", in spite of that geocache contains hint. This occurs in the case when the detailed geocache information never been opened before.

If you do this on the geocache which has been opened before (at least once and contains a hint), it works fine.

Same strange situation for geocache icons loaded on the map via

- "GSAK database" addon with "Live map" enabled,

- "Geocaching4Locus" addon wtih "Live map" enabled

- geocache in the Locus "points database" imported by "GSAK database" addon

Good day Martin,

I'm glad you made this issue.

Short explanation: almost all add-ons use simple system. They send to Locus only basic information about cache (name, icon, etc.) and rest is loaded when you tap on icon name to display whole big point screen. Till "hint" button was only in point screen, there were no problem. But now, hint is available also in moment, point is not loaded at all.

So if other developers will agree, in this case are two options.

1) is possible to improve add-ons and send also hint in basic information

2) Locus should load whole cache in moment you tap on point itself

I personally suggest solution one as it will not slow down simple work with points on a map. Mainly in case of GC4L, where data are loaded over internet.

What you think Kuřátko, Arcao and Voldík?

Hi, I send hint wih basic data in GeoGet addon so hint is available in popup window. It will be the same in GSAK addon, but question is, when it will be, because there is a lot's of work to do. :-)

For GC4L I've already reported issue https://github.com/arcao/Geocaching4Locus/issues/55

So, I also preffer solution one.

With the latest changes in Live Geocaching API is it possible, but it's a little bit slower and more demanding on data usage. It will be in upcoming G4L version 2.0.
