Problem with auto-loading raster maps

Hi,

I have a problem with auto-loading raster maps. Sometimes on the border between two maps I get a blue square which appears/disappers if I move the map. Here is a screenshot video which shows the behaviour.

Also two maps are attached if you want to try it out:

Can I do something to get rid off this blue squares?

I'm using Locus Pro 3.10.3 on Android 5.0.2.

Thanks for your answer,

Miha

Hello Miha,

it is little bit complicated situation. I'm testing your maps and seems, that they are not exactly one next to another. Small part of maps overlaps. Also always right and bottom border of map is not transparent but blue (why?). Locus tries to display last line of tiles of left map and first line of tiles from right map at once .. and result is visible.

Did you tried these maps in Orux? How they work? Correctly both at once? Answer on this question do not help here, I'm just curious how Orux solved this, because it looks like quite complicated task.

In Orux when you move the map outside its area it auto-loads the next map but also removes the previous one (at least I didn't find an option to leave the previous map visible too). So they don't have this problem at all :)

I'm aware this is not a Locus problem in first place but more the maps I'm using, I was just wondering if there is a way to get better behaviour even in this case. Maybe you could add an option to choose the "Orux behaviour", so when the next map is auto-loaded, the old one is removed?

Hello Miha,

sorry for a later response. I think in this case, if you wants to get really similar behavior, I may suggest to

1. disable auto-loading in menu > settings > maps - advanced > (personal maps) Map auto-load

2. place on screen quick map switch tool for faster switching of maps, menu > settings > map - control & panels > Quick map switch

You will have to switch maps manually, but result will be same as in this case in Orux. Exactly same behavior is some extra work that will require a lot of changes which I currently do not want to do "just" because of this your use-case. Sorry and thanks for understanding.

I agree that in the end, it is an issue in Locus, but very specific.

Not a problem Menion, in real life this is not critical at all. Maybe I will just switch it off if it will bother me like you proposed.

Thanks for your answer, I really appreciate if there is a reply from the developer!

Nice day, Miha

Sure, you are welcome. To be true, auto-loading system in Locus is quite old and really needs improvements. I really hope, that one day (soon), I'll be forced to start work on it and rewrite it from scratch. When this happen, I'm sure, I'll find also some useful solution on this problematic. Thanks for understanding.

Hi Menion,

any news regarding this topic?

Currently autoloading does not work with my raster maps, I don't know if anything changed in the latest versions. I would still like to get the same behaviour as in Orux (if possible) that when you move outside the area new map would be auto-loaded and the old one disabled.

Regards, Miha

Good day Miha,

I'm sorry to say it. Your use is little un-usuall as mostly this autoloading is used on downloaded SQLite maps that do not have problems on borders like your maps. In these cases, current autoloading make sense and removing previous map is not useful. So I'm sorry, but there is currently no solution on this problem.
