Problem with disappeared tracks and points
Not a Problem
Suddenly my tracks and points are not longer shown. Only new points.
The data should still be on the device. Where can I find them and how can I make Locus show them again?
Hi,
go to menu > points or menu >tracks, click the "eye" icon by each point/track you want to visualize.

Sorry, but this is not what I requested. The tracks and points are not only missing in the map but also in the list of entries. Seems to be rather a database issue. How can it be solved?
Best regards, Karotte

Hi Karotte,
It depends on what you mean by "suddenly". Nothing happens without reason. Did you move Locus or some of its root folders somewhere? To SD card? Points and tracks are stored in databases in Locus/data/database folder.

Hi Michal,
the only change I did in the last time was due to an issue with the map download. After the last map download and then moving it to the SD card (as usual, due to the restricted storage space of the device) and reconnecting the map, I continued with the next map. But had always an error message from Locus saying that it could not store the data. So that I reset all folder settings to the standard Locus settings. Only then I could continue with the download. Maybe due to this, the tracks disappeared? But then, with the folder standard settings, why are the tracks affected? And since there are several folders like Locus/data/database at different places of the storage, what is exactly the folder for the standard settings to find the tracks? And: what is the name of the file containing the tracks and the points?

Hi Karotte,
you say that there are "several folders like Locus/data/database at different places of the storage". There should be only one such folder in your device. Either in your device's internal memory or on the external SD card/Android/data/menion.android.locus dedicated folder. Check your Locus settings > miscellaneous >default folders and compare with such folders in your device if they contain your data. In case of points it is waypoints.db, in case of tracks it is tracks.db which must be placed in Locus /data/database folder. Duplicate folders should be removed.

Hi Michal,
yesterday I checked the content of all folders named database. 2 on the internal storage, and the 3rd one on the SD card. Since I never created the folders myself, this is crazy. Supposedly they were created by the Locus app internally, then some program change of the app caused another creation, and thereby the older content was still stored, but in the old and now wrong folder. Luckily thereby I found 2 larger files with older changed dates than the newer files in the new folder. So I copied the larger and older files to the new folder. And had my data back! Containing tracks and waypoints of my trip this summer (1325 km). Heureka.
But I request that the documentation of the Locus app gives more technical details, especially to the storage. It is very time consuming to have to find out this instead of having a documentation listing where all the details are stored.
Another problem: the server for the map download of MTP maps seems to be corrupted, when trying to download I always get the error message “Problem with Server”. Could you please check and repair this?

Hi Karotte,
Locus Map creates its working folders only during its installation OR when it can't find the original ones (the changed path is not properly defined, SD card is removed etc. So if you had Locus on your external SD card and then restored its original default root, the folder structure on the SD card remained.
As for the Locus Knowledge base - it is written on the base of needs of Locus users in general and according to our experience Locus users do not need to know such technicalities as is distribution of Locus work files - it would rather cause mess and more possibilities of fails.
The last point - what do you mean by "MTP maps"?

Hi Michal,
I meant the maps to be found in the online maps, with the entry MTB Europe. I had started the download last friday, and since then I cannot continue but always get the message (in german, so I translate it for you into englisch): Process not successful. Problems with the server. Try later. Error 2.
Last time I had the message, it was due to a server issue. So I assume it is a server issue again, and nothing I can do myself.
Best regards, Karotte

Hi Karotte,
I see, MTB Europe... as we are not providers of these maps I can't help you with their error messages. Anyway, I tested downloading them and the process went without flaws, see screenshots:

Hi Michal,
Sorry to have to write again. After deletion of the download and the map I could start a new download and first it worked. But now I want to extend the existing map file with the next download. Got it running yesterday but it then was interrupted because of the download Limit. And today I want to continue it, as usual. But now I have again the same issue as with the last map: each time it only downloads a few tiles and then stops with the error message 2. And I did not change anything else on my device. What can I do to get it working correctly?
Best regards Karotte

Hi Karotte,
this is something we cannot influence - the error is on some server of a third-party map provider. Error No.2 is just saying "Locus has tried to connect to XY server but it refused its request". So try again later.

Hi Michal,
could you please give me the contact data for the 3rd party map provider? The problem is still existing, and I prefer the MTB maps for their level of details, compared with other maps. And need to download them for my next trips. So I would like to contact them in order to get it fixed. Other map-downloads work with my device, but are not what I want.
