Problem with OpenAndromaps and world map - black tiles

Florian Schwarze shared this problem 7 years ago
Solved

I am using joelocs method of combining a raster world map with vector maps from OAM, using the elevate v4 themes (RC).

http://www.openandromaps.org/oam-forums/topic/uebersichtskarte-wozu-transparenter-zoom-level-10

Now as of today after upgrading to 6.01 on my S5 and upgrading locus to 3.18 when I zoom out to the raster and back into the vector map I get black tiles. Changing the render theme brings the vector map back to normal - until I do the zoom game again. Bug in Locus or 6.0.1? I cannot tell as both updates were more or less at the same time :)

Not sure if this helps as an additional description: I just figured out that if I move the vectormap far enough away from the spot with the black tiles or zoom in above zoom level 15 or 16 the black tiles dissappear.

Black tiles also dissapear when I zoom out to the rastermap levels.

Good day Florian,

issue with black tiles does not happen only with this world map. It happen also in some other cases, but with this world map it was clearly visible. Thank you for a report btw. I'm playing with it now and I've found a place, where this problem happen, but I can understand why. For now I have disabled one small performance optimization that solved this issue.

So for now, consider it as solved (will work in next version).

Thank you.

How about the max zoom setting for overlays btw? Its like five lines of code in Locus vs the major nonsense of every single Power User downloading gigabytes of data from poor map servers... and fuxxoring them with transparent tiles afterwards...

Apparently people even wrote FAQs and instruction web pages for my silly little hack :)
