As I change sometimes the theme of my vector maps - in dependence what I`m acutally doing - it would be great to got this option not hidden somewhere deep in the settings, but to have some kind of menue simillar to the "Fast map change" - to do the same with vector themes.

I have to deny this idea

Requested feature is already available in Quick switch panel http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php/manu... , so it`s much faster then in settings, but not so fast as you request, agree.

Oh did not know that. Never used the Quick switch panel.

But thats a solution that works for me as well. Just put the Quick switch menu to the right bar and got the option to change the theme there. Way better than go to settings.

Thanks!

Firstly declined, later completed :). Switch for vector maps themes (Locus Maps), moved from Quick switch directly to functions panel.

Menion - Michal

Locus - knowledge base

An unfairly race.

Just letting you know that I do not fully appreciate the fact that I now need to have one more icon in the panel. Preferred to have it in quick switch.

Hm it's not so bad to have it in "functions" but now we miss it in "quick switch panel". So why not both?

Hmm, whole reason for this, was to be able to faster change all possibilities that theme switcher brings.

Because now, there is five internal themes created by Peter. Oki, they do not needed a faster switch then before. But here comes extra themes from John ( http://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?topic=2915.0 ) , which are really nice and which offers new style of switching (more themes bundled in one icon), well and here comes another option which you are probably not aware ... themes from Tobias (OpenAndroMaps), which has a different way to switch themes based on latest MapsForge 0.4 library. And this is the main reason, because this switcher allows to directly choose which layers will be visible!

We plan use this system also for internal themes and then fast access to this "Theme switcher" will be more then needed. Because of this, I made this step.

Interesting, although I don't see why this necessitates moving the switcher icon from the quick switch to panels. Anyway, they say on the OpenAndroMaps page that the Elevate 3 theme supports switching the layers but that it is not compatible with Locus. I tried downloading it anyway and didn't manage to use it in Locus. But they say the Locus-compatible version does not have switchable layers. So what and how should I download/install?

Support for switchable layers is completely new and not yet tested. I published this information yesterday so there were no chance to work on it with creator of OpenAndroMaps themes. So be patient :).

Btw: I created a new poll at top of this topic. So feel free to vote for your preffered change of vector themes. I'll then reconsider where to add this switcher ...

Thx for asking

* Quick settings (old system)

AND

* Functions panel (new system)

Sure you are welcome. I may have one opinion, but poll is poll. So we will see after a week ...

Yesterday I noticed that new openandromaps themes with layers for Locus are available and tested them. It's absolutely brilliant! Good job. :-)

Thanks. We plan to use this system partially also for our own internal themes, so hope you'll try them later as well ;).

I think "quick settings" is for advanced users and it would be nice to have the choice of all settings to have in, as "vector map themes". For standard users it is not easy to know that theme of vector maps can be changed. I saw it with my friends that I initate to Locus. A button that appear when the map is shown would be a good idea to let users to know that themes can be changed.

Thanks to offer this vote.

I´ll vote after I have tested the new place in side panel with style switching themes. :)

Hi guys,

nice voting, 28 votes gives good overview of what is and what isn't wanted.

I was thinking about it a lot. Currently five options is in game and for me it looks way too much. As I see, "settings" is not much used as well as switched directly in details of vector map. Anyway I see optimal this solution

- Details of vector map (exists)

- Quick settings (based on voting, return it back)

- Automatic button on map, when vector map is visible (bellow quick map switch. This button should be anyway globally enabled/disabled on a place, where is currently a switcher in settings)

And this is all. So these, who will wants a slow access to switch, there will be switch in details of vector map, for medium fast access will exists switcher in "quick settings" (as was before) and for ultra fast access will exists optional button below "Quick map switch" on left side.

What you think? Hope this should be optimal compromise for everyone.

Sounds like a good compromise. Thank you!
