Real MTB theme for Vektor maps_> Open MTB Maps
Gathering feedback
Hi, I just recognized the new themes for Cycling and hiking in Locus.
Since I like to drive MTB instead of road cycling, I would be very interested in having an other kind of theme for vektor maps available.
There is a free map for garmin devices available (http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Ke...) besides the tracks and elevation lines
Maybe some more MTB drivers will looking for that feature.

I’m thinking about MTB theme for new version of vector maps but I’ve never saw MTB track (in real world) For this reason I’d like to know: is there any standard how draw MTB track? Is one scale enough for you or do you need also scale for uphill track? Actually I’ve tried to get some perspective about it from e.g. http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Fi... so please tell me: is this system of rendering MTB track readable for you?

you might want to look at 4UMaps-Site (Locus has it also as Online-Map). I personally like the kind of rendering ... not to complex but still obvious enough to identify "MTB-worth" trials pretty easily, even while riding the bike with a...DEFY infront of you on the stem.

P.S: but actually frankly spoken, for me to switch from 4UMaps-Tiles to Vector maps with MTB-Theme would only make real sense, if Locus were able to rotate Vector maps in driving direction while keeping text and symbols displayed in a readable position (like Garmin).

This is new to me. I just try this , but I have to download Christians latest maps also. After done I will give feedback.

The rendering from the link you provided would be much more sophisticated, which I personally think is not required.

Thank you for your ideas! It seems that you don’t want too many MTB track informations. For this reason another question. Do you want separate vector style only for MTB or is it possible to create only one general style for cycling?

Though I`m no MTBer I think a combined theme for cyclying and mountain-biking should be enough.

Maybe it is good idea to separate them, since there may come more stuff on future. Eg other renderingfor contour lines etc

I go with Ralf, separate would be fine...in fact, I think I already wrote it somewhere, it would be great to let the user configure rendering style...maybe on some predefined styles. but maybe i am not aware enough about this subject and its obstacles, as i do always wounder, ways this it not available in general.
