Record NMEA on both internal and external GPS

I would like to record both NMEA data from both the internal and Bluetooth GPS at the same time. Is there a hidden function to do this? Thanks!

Hello Sten,

you want to enable internal device GPS and also BT GPS and record NMEA at the same time? This is currently not possible. Mainly because Locus can work only with one GPS source at once. Anyway external GPS usually has own recording mechanism so there is not needed to record NMEA messages over Locus, isn`t it?

Hi Menion,

I`m mapping the hiking trails around me for OSM. Many are undocumented in OSM but are very nice and well maintained trails. While I`m out there it would be helpful if I could record both sources NMEA messages for later cleanup and comparsion.

The BT GPS I`m using is a Garmin GLO and it doesn`t have internal storage or standalone recording. I`m doing tests if there is another app that can record the BT GPS and use Locus for the internal GPS. That would be fine too.

I thought you might have a hidden config file somewhere for when you are developing/testing. It doesn`t sound like its possible so don`t worry about it :) Thanks

understand.

Anyway in this case, you should use BT GPS as source for Locus right? Why you need to use also internal GPS?

When you connect your Garmin GLO directly with Locus (by Bluetooth manager) and you also enable recording a NMEA messages, then it should works correctly. Locus will handle NMEA data from Garmin Glo, record NMEA messages to card and use these data to display and record locations ...

Anyway I`m sure that on Google Play are applications that allow to record NMEA messages from BT GPS anyway in this case, I should little worry about battery life, because handling internal GPS and also BT GPS at once, should suck your battery quite fast (just my opinion)
