It would useful the choice between Absolute (actual implementation) dynamic elevation and Relative dynamic elevation given from GPS position and crosshair in center of the screen.

Good day Edoardo,

thanks for your idea. May you please explain the better

  • relative = difference between which values?
  • what is the benefit of this value and how it may be useful for users of Locus Map app?

  • Relative means difference between altitude given from map at center crosshair and actual GPS position. Very similar to the function "Cursor to position line" which shows the distance between crosshair and GPS position, but in terms of difference of altitude instead of difference of distance.
  • Very useful in mountain where is more important the difference in altitude between my position and the point I want to reach than the (plain) distance.

Already available as advance user feature:

Locus main directory -> config.cfg file

map_items_line_to_gps_value_below change from 2 (bearing) to 4 (elevation)

Hi Falco,

Good! Exactly what I want. It's a shame this function is so hidden...

Elevation number should have an icon in front of it (a mountain peak for example) to distinguish from distance above displayed in the dotted line, but this a subtlety.

This is one of the reasons why it is hidden. It is not fully implemented (Settings UI and flaws like distinguishment) and could confuse users.

We should not forget about users who don't read the documentation. If users don't read documentation they don't understand what is going on. And this could lead into wrong bug reports or bad reviews which will hurt the whole project.

As long as other features get higher priority, everything which can confuse people, is hidden for users who do read the whole documenation :)

If you long click on the menu simbol (3 horizontal lines) you can enable expert settings which will enable even more hidden features.

Thanks Edoardo for explanation and Falco for the help.

I'm just uploading new version 3.38.6. We are slowly moving content from config.cfg to little less hidden app Expert settings and these settings that affect this line was just moved there.
