Rendering tracktype=grade1

My idea is that in internal theme "Hike & Bike" tracktype=grade1 at zoom 16 shouldn't appear like a road although a little bit narrower what is confusing. In Czechia it is no difference because, as far as I know, a convention is they are paved, but in others countries as grade1 are also mapped tracks with heavy compacted material, hence soil color on OSM, what makes some difference for cyclists.

Dear Pawel,

I can understand but it's probably just the angle of view or better is more problem of OSM tagging.

By definition "grade1" is: Usually a paved or heavily compacted hardcore surface.

Locus internal "Hike & Bike" theme tends to be more general theme for different outdoor activities. It's not strictly Hike nor Bike theme and it isn't strict topo theme.

From my point of view is grade1 similar to highway=unclassified and for this reason it's used the similar style.

I keep the topic open for comments or votes. Maybe the best solution is to used custom theme that focus more on cycling or any other that simply fits your requirements.

Dear Peter, in Czechia where they are paved, although in Car and City themes they are not similar to unclassified. I think it is wrong when 2 different things are defined as one like grade1. However LoMaps are render of OSM and I think more consistency, like in Car and City themes, will be only better and it won't hurt in this case. By experience users will know that in 1 part of the world grade1 are like unclassified and in others they are unpaved, especially when what mappers maps as heavily compacted is diverse.

The best solution would be when grade1 tracks were rendered similar to unclassified when they have tag surface=paved or asphalt. Including surface tag in LoMaps would also make possible to render unclassified or residential roads as tracks where they are unpaved, also in Car theme.

You are right in Car theme is not grade1 rendered as highway because grade1 is not likely designed for regular traffic. But Hike & Bike is created for different use.

I know that the consistency of OSM data is not ideal. So it's on discussion with mappers from Germany, Austria, Poland, what is "standard" in their countries.

I mean consistency of LoMaps with default OSM render. I think LoMaps shouldn't render nearly the same two things that are rendered very different on OSM.
