Report summary after import
Declined
Hi,
I mentioned that the import task changed. When I now import caches which already exist in another folder they will be updated in the other folder and not in the choosen target folder.
It's good to have caches only unique but I have situations where I want duplicate caches in different folders. That makes the handling not easy.
Could you please add Information to the import report summary which folders have been updated by the import task?
The reason is I missed caches in the past and I got no message that they are just stored in different folders.
Thanks Wolfgang
Hello Wolfgang,
this seems to complicate task and mainly handling it's result. Your request needs to display the result in some kind of dialog with list of folders & changes instead of small quick popup that just inform about the result.
Isn't then easier to let Locus Map display points after import on the map? Then you should see all imported/updated caches on the map. If you before clear visible points on the map, you will get something close to your wanted list. In Data > Points screen, you will see the number of visible points in each folder, so you may easily see from which folder are cached visible on the map.
Isn't this solution? If my explanation is not clear, write me and I'll add few images.

Hi Menion,
I didn't know that such a task is complicate. I know the short result display and jut thought it's not a big deal to add this additional information and to add an OK button.
But if it's really more work than I'll live with the current situation. I already mentioned the workaround you described above. That's why I mentioned what's going "wrong" now.
I still don't yet know how I will handle the new behavior, because I intentional imported the same caches into different folders.
You once wrote somewhere about a feature with tags you want to program. Maybe this handles the situation better as it was and now is. I'm looking forward ;)
Thanks Wolfgang

Hello,
I do not see the biggest problem in creating this functionality. The biggest problem from my point of view is a new dialog that will appear after import and that users have to manually confirm by the tap on the ok/close button. We may expect that almost all users care about the only fact: was import successful or not. You anyway need something more which does not perfectly fit to my imagination. Sorry.

That's fine for me. Like mentioned I'll wait for the tagging feature. Maybe it works opposite but gives me than the old functionality as it was working in previous locus version. I mean that with giving a cache two tags I could better filter/separate it again. And then I don't care any more on the report.
Thanks Wolfgang
