Search for river and mountain names, etc. offline.

I would like to have the ability to search offline for river and mountain names, etc. I just would like to search for everything what has a name in the map.

That would be beautiful. I was sure this idea was already proposed - it is so obvious. But maybe not?

Partially can be solved using offline DB POI. At this moment DB contains: Peaks, Glaciers, Spring and protected areas.

Offline POI works in Locus test version at this moment. See Locus forum for more info: http://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?to...

Hello Ivo,

you can find couple of testing databases files on mentioned Locus forum. There are also information how to “install” databases in Locus testing version. What exactly mean that you get error during downloading database. Is any DB file corrupted? Which file did you try to download?

Now the download works and I could download the DB file from the web page. After I installed the DB file from the forum download link, Locus was still asking to download the DB file. After downloading the DB file again via Locus it works!

Great thing. Please have the DB files for all countries! Very good improvement.

Offline POI Database is still testing feature. All countries will be downloadable via Locus store after official release.

For me Offline POI would be the greatest feature for Locus I can imagine. After you have Offline POI wouldn`t it be possible to have offline navigation also?

I don`t understand how brouter works. Don`t you have to be online?

I have not examined it thoroughly, however the title "BRouter: offline routing on Android phones" seems promising !

Hello Ivo, we wanted to make this working till end of year, but as I wrote above "probably expect rather in Q1/2014". We have currently working solution for new store, but it`s not well tested and needs some improvements.

When new store will be ready, we start work on POI database. I`m almost sure, that till end of June, all will be out and working. Unfortunately all these tasks take surprisingly a lot of time. More then we thought at start :)
