Shift Map-center.

Bert Crommar shared this problem 11 years ago
Not a Problem

Problem with shift map-center. While navigating the GPS-locator looses the shifted map-center and finally disappears from the screen. Everything works normal when the map-center is not shifted.

Hello Bert,

I`m not sure I understand. When you move, your locations slowly disappear from screen only when you have enabled "Shift map center"?

1. To make shift map center work, you also have to enable map rotate (btn. 8)

2. when you move and you want to have your location still in center of screen, enable "centering" (btn. 7)

was this helpful for you?

Hello Menion,

Your response is very quick and that after all your problems.(Google- I had to buy from AndroidPit)

Answer to your question: Yes.

Map rotation is enabled(btn 8) and centring is enabled(btn 7).

Even so the GPS-locater looses the shifted Map-centre.

When the Map-centre is not shifted the GPS-locator remains on the centre.

By the way the download off maps is a real pain, and that even before the max amount off tiles has been reached.

Navigation with recalculation is not possible off-line, what a pity.

Thanks at forehand,

Hi Bert,

why don`t you use MobAC for creating your offline maps?

http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php/comm...

Route calculation and re-calculation uses online services. I guess this won`t change in near future.

Hello Berkley,

This looks very complicated.

Too much for me.

Thanks,

Bert.

It just looks complicated. It`s very easy, once you are used to it! ;)

I wonder, if there is not a possibility to look into a vector map before we decide downloading her.

photo

There is possibility, search for mapsforge vectormaps and you`ll find plenty of them.

And please don`t misuse this topic any longer for questions in different areas!

Is the problem with the Map-shift center yet solved?

Tommi, unfortunatly you posted this as comment, so i can`t give you a star! Feel like you reveived one! ;)

c`mon guys :)

Bert, this is know problem for us. You as a potential customer, have no idea what you buying. It`s something we know about well and will work on it since new year, to bring more user-friendly solution.

First step we would like to introduce soon, is to prepare some sample map available for free in Locus that will allow to check how different maps looks and how whole system works.

photo
0

sorry, not yet. I was today driving on small trip and during that I tried all possible combinations of map shifting, rotation etc... and all worked for me.

So if anyone do not have same issue, I`ll need from you some screenshot of map screen, how it looks on your device.

Second step, if you`ll be still interested in fix, is that I`ll prepare for you special version that will store some debug information

photo

Hello Menion,

I made a test today with Navigation and with voice.

What it is doing without voice I don`t know.

Anyway with both engaged the Gps-locator looses the shifted map center.

This is with my handy 100% reproducible.

Besides this the app did crash today several times on vector maps, there was a report sent.

If you want I could translate the app in dutch, sent me the text-fragments.

Hope you can solve the problems.

Thanks,

Bert Crommar.

What phone do you use and which OS version?

photo

@Bert: Dutch is allready availble. Go to Settings/Global. After changing the language you need to close Locus and restart it to see the changes.

Device ?

OSversion ?

rooted ?

Custom ROM ?

Locus Pro Version ?

Do you use the navigation function real outside with gsp fix or do you simulate a navigation?

What means "both engaged the Gps-locator" ?

Menion says >"I`ll prepare for you special version that will store some debug information"

Dutch(Nederlands) is not Deutsch and is not present in Locus.

Sorry I seem to have overlooked. It would be easier if languages stood alphabetical

One point solved.

??? It is alphabetical! Check the picture!

I noticed that Tommy but Dutch people like me have a tendency to think in English when we read English. So we search under G for Germany and under D for Dutch :) Now back to Bert`s main problem.

photo

@henkvanderspek: ik werd in de war gebracht door het bericht taal niet ondersteund, bij het instellen van de navigatiestem.

photo

Then I wonder what are doing all these strange languages in between, like Chinese?

photo

To be true, I`m little bit lost in this topic.

Bert, please create separate topics if there is more issues on your side, anyway just to make them clear

1. downloading maps - I may suggest this manual, it may helps http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php/manu...

2. Offline navigation - for now it isn`t in Locus. I`m everywhere writing that Locus support only Online navigation

3. I`m checking all received emails with errors for 2.8.1 version and I don`t see your name there. May you try to crash it once more with latest 2.8.1 version and send me report again? Maybe with your name in comment, thank you

4. about languages - basically, you should not need to change language in Locus, because locus automatically select language by your device locale. So if you have phone in dutch, Locus should be automatically also in dutch. It do not work for you?

5. and last and main thing. Centering ... I was asking for a screenshot, so I may see what you have enabled on map screen. Also should help if you may describe step by step, what you do. Because it`s really weird for me, that no one other have problems with centering as long as I remember.

Sorry for new "mess" in this topic.

Bert could you please give me more information about your problems with downloading maps for off-line usage? . What was wrong? what did you expect? did not understand some of the steps? what about Zoom-level did you know what is it?

Your feedback is important for us.

Thank you

I am trying to answering your question.

Problem with maps is concerning sql-maps, there you have to choice zoom-level for downloading(see mentioned problems).

With vector maps this problem is not existing.

Hello Menion,

About Shift-map center, I think until now not so many people are using this function.

If you make it, make it work 100%.

Problem occurs when navigating with voice(or without voice: this is not tested until now), and only when navigating.

When you are only driving along to see where you are(without navigation) everything is OK.

When testing this two things are engaged: map rotation and Gps-locator(the two buttons on the left under)

Is this clear now.

About languages: I changed voice because voice in dutch(Nederlands) is manking.

About crashes: I am going to make it crash, and I am going to add my name. Crashes occur when using vector-maps with low zoom-level, this makes it reproducible.

Greetings.

For the moment he is no more crashing, maybe it had something to do with cache.

Hello Menion,

Crash succeeded on new map, rapport sended, name added.

Cause: out of memory.

What we know:

The nederlands vectormap has lot of water/coastlines

and so the map are terrible slow in some zoom levels.

but...

Can we (PLEASE) talk about ONE topic in this thread?

Please create new topic about "using vectormap crash"

Today we made a final test;

Settings the same as mentioned above except no voice.

Result everything turns out OK.

Conclusion: it is the use off the voice-option that causes the problem.

I hope this helps you for resolving this bug.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Menion,

Here is what we do.

1: Settings menu: Select shift-map-center(Map-controls&panels).

2: Settings menu: Navigation Choose voice-text to speech.

3: Push: Navigation button, installed on right pannel.

3: Pick destination on map.

4: Choose way off travel --> working.

5: When road is calculated engage: map rotation and Gps-locator(the two buttons on the left under)

6: Go driving and follow the voice and indications on the screen.

7: GPS-locator loosses Shifted map-center

Is this clear now.

Today I could not create this problem. I did a 100 km navigation with voice, using the 423 mB Netherlands hike map (with a lot of detail). I was on zoom-level 15. At speeds in the car of up to 110 km/h.

No crashing, no "riding"off the map. Only when I accidentely unselected the lower left button; the "red cross" then freezes the map and the navi-position symbol moves off the screen.

Remeber that before on older Locus versions and with older but still big Dutch vector maps I had a problem with freezing and crashing.

I those days I used Eclair; now on Froyo (with one little trick: Set vm.min_free_kbytes=4096; this one is needed on most Froyo versions to keep Google maps from freezing/crashing; don`t know if it helps for Locus too).

fine, now we have two threads with the same topic

Hello Henkvanderspek,

As I understand you did navigation with voice(certainly not duch because that is not there) without problems.

I believe you, but you didn`t mention you were using Shifted-map-center, because without everything runs as it should.

Hello,

This topic is a mess, and very long.

Maybe you better close it.

Yes, I used English TTS voice and shift map center. Screen dumps go nicely with MyPhone Explorer from the Play Store and on your PC via the www

Hello Henkvanderspek,

Interesting screenshot, the map-center seems OK.

The two lower left buttons are OK.

But the GPS-locator does not indicate navigation(then he is a car).

In this situation everything stays OK.

So your screenshot and probably test are not conclusive.

Greetings,

Bert Crommar.

I think Henk really uses navigation, he is an experienced Locus user.

The main indication for navigation is the navigation element in the upper left area.

The car is just a kind of cursor which can be replaced by different ones.

The setting is here:http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php/manu...

However currently Locus itself offers only a default set and Henk added/replaced icons.

Menion, can you please this topic!!!
