Show road names/labels more easily

I use locus maps for dirt roads and off-roading 4x4 trails (forest service roads in the USA). I have found that these "small" road names do not show up unless I zoom in very closely on them. Furthermore, I am unable to see the path these roads/trails take if I zoom out.
The same problem 
Online or offline maps? What theme do you use in case of offline maps? Have you tried another theme?
