'Show view' and 'rotate map' work abnormal under navigation mode.

Solved

Such as ' show view ' only face a direction on the map, no matter what you do.

Hi Feng Tao, navigation mode overrides the rotation setting so that the driver is shown the rotation or show view always in the direction of the ride - it's for safety reasons.

The show view mode is working at google map. It will help me know the direction when I start to move. The rotate map is working on some other map apps, such as the map will rotate to make sure the direction is facing where you move.

Good day Feng,

you are correct if we talk about "Show view" feature. In case you enable navigation in Locus, then orientation for map and also angle visible in "Show view" feature is defined by a route you are using for navigation.

Agree that this should be improved, so done. In next version, "show view" should always display real measured orientation of device no matter if navigation is active or not. Better? Next version is planned on this week, so let me know if it will works correctly. Thanks

Hi, I'm using the 3.16.2 version of the app on a Nexus 6P running Android 6.0. Generally love the app but am confounded by the Rotate Map function : If I press the button before using the map it clearly unlocks it and allows rotation. What I find disappointing is that the map doesn't orient for the direction of travel. It really should do what Google Maps does when you're navigating : the map swings around so that the route lines up with your direction of travel and does so until the destination. That's not happening with this app. Seems like a no brainer. Hope you can sort it out soon,

Paul

Hi Paul,

strange, in my Locus the map rotation works exactly as you wish - it rotates in the direction of movement, i.e. in the direction my device is pointing at. When the rotation is off, the map is oriented northward, i.e. the North is is up. Can you describe please how exactly "your" rotation works?

Thanks, I will try gynta's suggestion this evening and revert. What has been happening is that the map does rotate but it swings around a lot and does not orient as you describe. If I'm pointing south along a street it properly locates me on the street but the top of the map which is my direction may be pointing north, west or east or anywhere in between

yep it sounds like your HW compass is not calibrated. Maybe just calibration would help and you dont have to deactivate it (it's useful for slow speeds). How to calibrate compass: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:faq:how_to_calibrate_compass
